Sungrow BESS to power Sunterra RE's solar parks in Bulgaria

Renewables company Sunterra RE has partnered Sungrow to deploy 1 gigawatt hours (GWh) of battery energy storage systems (BESS) at three of its largest photovoltaic parks in Bulgaria. The agreement marks the second phase in Sunterra RE's plan to expand its energy storage capacity and will more than triple the current 300MW capacity. Sungrow is tasked with the production, testing and delivery of its MV-Power Titan 2.0 industrial system. The system incorporates lithium iron phosphate battery cell technology, string energy conversion systems and advanced management systems. The implementation of these storage systems aims to refine the output of photovoltaic plants, shifting energy production to align with peak consumption times. This will not only mitigate disruptions in the power grid but also stabilise electricity costs for end-users and bolster the overall security of the energy network. Sunterra RE CEO Emil Shopov stated: "This agreement is much more than a commercial transaction — it is a clear commitment to Bulgaria's energy future. "We chose Sungrow because of their proven expertise — over 28 years of experience in the industry and over 740 GW of installed capacity in more than 180 countries." In late July 2025, Sungrow installed an advanced hybrid project, featuring its SH15T hybrid inverters, at a rehabilitation centre in Rzeszów, Poland, in partnership with Recosolar. The project includes a 16 kilowatts peak (kWp) rooftop solar array linked to a 25kWh energy storage system, a step towards enhancing energy reliability and self-consumption within Poland's healthcare industry, highlighted the renewable energy solutions provider.
