Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. NASCAR driver Connor Zilisch took a nasty fall after winning the Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen. As he climbed from his car, Zilisch was holding a can of Red Bull in his hand and eventually used the door to get on top of the vehicle. With champagne spraying, the 19-year-old lost balance and ended up smacking his head on the floor and lying on the ground. On the CW broadcast, the camera cut away from the scene of the fall, though the broadcast eventually provided additional information. Photo byNASCAR reporter Dylan Welch confirmed Zilisch was awake and speaking. "Connor is speaking, was speaking with medical personnel," Welch said on the broadcast. "They were swiftly on the scene here. Both folks, right here in victory lane, and then the trackside medical group that drove the medical golf cart in. "They are loading him on a backboard right now and are going to put him on a cart, and I believe, are taking him to the infield medical centre just for more evaluation. "But I did get confirmation, he was speaking with the medical folks and that's the only thing we can say at this time." "Connor Zilisch has been transported to a local hospital for further evaluation following today's Xfinity Series race. He is awake and alert," they said. Zilisch was eventually released from the hospital, though his status for the race on Sunday is up in the air. Who is Connor Zilisch? His victory was the sixth of Zilisch's impressive season, setting himself up for a cup series run at the nearest chance. He drives for JR Motorsports, which the legendary Dale Earnhardt Jr. owns, and even won a race with Earnhardt as his crew chief. Earlier in his motorsport career, Zilisch raced in Europe with the hopes of potentially becoming a Formula 1 driver, though he opted to get into a better race seat in America. He left the door open to a potential F1 move, but cited a series of roadblocks that he would face. "If it were to happen, I'd have to go over there for at least a year, two years probably to even get enough Super Licence points to qualify," Zilisch said "I'd run F3... I'd just run a bunch of 'BS' series to get Super Licence points. Middle East F3, random things that you can do to get the points. "That's why it would be such a big commitment. I'd want to get settled in here first and know that if I go over there for two years I could come back and still have a job." For more NASCAR news, head on over to Newsweek Sports.

Ryan Blaney Breaks Silence on Cadillac F1 Rumor With Just One Word
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A post on X from a parody account wrongly claimed that the Cadillac F1 team has reached out to NASCAR's Team Penske to have driver Ryan Blaney test their Formula One car. It also stated that Blaney would be eligible to receive a Super Licence to race in F1 if he finished 2nd this year. Blaney has responded with just a single three-letter word. Cadillac's F1 team has been gearing up for its premier class debut next year as the sport's eleventh team. The car is being developed in full swing to ensure it is competitive from the first year. Set to be the second American team on the grid, Cadillac joins at a crucial time as F1 enters a new era of regulations in 2026, where cars will be powered by an equal ratio of electric power to internal combustion through sustainable fuels. This is being done to comply with the sport's goal of being carbon neutral by 2030. MoreHowever, the big question Cadillac gets asked every time is about its driver lineup. While no name has been announced yet, Blaney being linked to the new F1 team for testing would certainly attract attention. Cadillac F1 team principal Graeme Lowdon confirmed in March that car components were being tested extensively and stressed that there was more work to be done. Newsweek Sports reported: "In terms of timeline for production, we're happy with where that stands. "We've been using a lot of time up to now doing a lot of testing and validation of individual components, things like testing of noses, squeeze testing of chassis elements and the like. "There's an awful lot of work that has gone on in the background. There's still a lot of work to do. "We're in a significantly better position now that we're now a fully-fledged F1 team. We will have access to all the data and information that all the other teams have." He added: "Now we can really push to come up with the most competitive car that we can. The team is already very sizeable, we're very comfortable about the position we're in, in terms of being ready to go racing in 2026." Blaney, however, has rejected the report of him testing for Cadillac. Commenting on the post on X, he said simply, "Nah." While many would have loved to witness a NASCAR-F1 crossover, it won't be happening this time.

F1's governing body decided that Verstappen's actions warranted three points on his Super Licence, declaring the collision was "undoubtedly caused" by him. Earning one more before the points rest on June 30 would see him banned for a race. Sky Sports pundit and former F1 star Nico Rosberg believes Verstappen was lucky to avoid a black flag. Rosberg said: "It looked like a very intentional retaliation. 4 "Wait for the opponent, go ramming into him, just like you felt the other guy rammed into you at Turn 1. "That's something which is extremely unacceptable and I think the rules would be a black flag, yes. "If you wait for your opponent to bang into him, that's a black flag." Verstappen is now 49 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri. The McLarens dominated in Barcelona, with Piastri winning off pole and teammate Lando Norris finishing second.
