Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Hangtown: Haiden Deegan wins
Haiden Deegan kept his perfect season alive with a sweep of the motos in the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California. In 2024, Deegan swept only one round of the 11 that make up the Pro Motocross championship, but he won the title with consistently strong runs. Starting the 2025 season with four moto wins marks the first time in his career that Deegan swept rounds in back-to-back weeks. Deegan leads the Pro Motocross standings by 12 points over Jo Shimoda, and has a commanding lead of 47 points in the SuperMotocross standings that seeds the playoffs. That is nearly two full motos ahead of second-place Julien Beaumer. Click here for a recap of Hangtown Shimoda stayed within striking distance of Deegan in the championship battle with second-place finishes in both motos of the opening round at Fox Raceway and this week in Hangtown. Conceding some speed and fitness to his rival, Shimoda knows where he needs improvement as the series heads into Round 3 at Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood, Colorado, this week. Levi Kitchen overcame a dismal start to his Pro Motocross campaign after finishing the Fox Raceway Nationals with minimal points. He finished 10th in Moto 1 and retired with engine problems in Southern California, but peaked in the heat of Northern Cali with results of third in each moto. Relive Moto 1 Beaumer started strong in Hangtown's Moto 1 before fading to eighth in the final rundown. He performed much better in the second race, finishing fourth and scoring fourth overall due to a tiebreaker. Earning the same number of points, 32, as Beaumer, Garrett Marchbanks finished one position better in Moto 1 with a seventh and one position worse in Moto 2 with a fifth, proving it is truly how one finishes in Pro Motocross that counts. The 2025 Supercross East champion Tom Vialle crashed out of Moto 1 and, still feeling the effects of the accident, finished eighth in Moto 2 to score 14 points, resulting in an overall 17th-place finish. Hangtown Motocross 250 Moto 2
Five minutes were taken off the clock with temperatures of 102 degrees. Chance Hymas was unable to mount up for Moto 2 after surviving the brutal Moto 1 and food poisoning at the start of the week. He failed to earn points for this race. In-Race Notes Lance Kobusch led his first Pro Motocross race after getting a strong start but it did not take long for Haiden Deegan to get around him. He grabbed the top spot on Lap 2. Kobusch fought the defending Motocross champion, but he crashed early in the race and dropped to the back of the field. Advertisement Casey Cochran had a strong start as well and moved into the second position early in the race. 2025 Motocross Hangtown 250 Quals: Haiden Deegan sweeps sessions
Haiden Deegan swept the two qualification sessions for the 250 class and topped the field by half a second. "It will be hot; everybody's got to deal with it, but I'm pretty fit, so I'm not too worried about it," Deegan told Peacock's Jason Thomas. "I usually don't care to pop off in qualifying like this, but I had to this week after a rider shooed me off [the top spot]. We had to send it today." Advertisement Deegan was referencing qualification in Pala, California, when Chance Hymas nipped him on the final lap of the second session. Hymas settled for second in Round 2, but that was only half the story. While the track had appreciably slowed for the second session, Hymas would have preferred to finish ahead of his rival. Other than pride, there was nothing to gain. Nevertheless, Deegan rode a wide line around the track following a red flag for a three-rider crash. Hymas was forced to follow. Ty Masterpool was third on the chart with a time of 1:57.398, which was .897 seconds slower than Deegan. Fourth-place Garrett Marchbanks (1:57.428) and Casey Cochran (1:57.479) rounded out the top five. Advertisement The second qualification session was marred by a red flag involving Hunter Yoder and Trevor Colip. Yoder put his Honda on the dirt at the top of a hill and Colip was unable to avoid the fallen bike. Colip was carted off by the Alpinestars Medical crew for evaluation. Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Fox Raceway: Haiden Deegan begins title defense perfectly
Haiden Deegan swept the motos of the Fox Raceway Nationals at Pala, California, to start his Pro Motocross title defense the same way he began last year's contest: He won both races and scored maximum points, which also extended his lead in the combined SuperMotocross League championship. Deegan now has a six-point advantage over Jo Shimoda in the outdoor series and a 47-point lead over Julien Beaumer in SuperMotocross. This is Deegan's eighth Motocross win. After last year's Fox Nationals, Deegan won two of the next three rounds and finished second once. He swept the top five during the season. Click here for a recap of Fox Raceway With second-place results in each moto, Jo Shimoda finished second overall to earn his first SuperMotocross podium since winning the Monster Energy Supercross opener at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. Shimoda showed flashes of speed in the 2024 outdoor season to earn three podiums in nine Nationals. Tom Vialle finished fourth in Moto 1 and third in the second race to land third overall on the grid. Vialle did not get a strong start in either race, but showed an ability to assemble the full event. That will come in handy during the next 10 weeks. Relive Moto 1 Chance Hymas was the fastest 250 rider in the morning, bumping Deegan from the top qualification spot on the final lap of the second session. He got a great start to Moto 1 before scoring an impressive podium finish of third in that race. Hymas faded to sixth in the second race and settled for fourth overall. Julien Beaumer logged his first laps led in the second moto of the Fox Nationals before fading to finish just off the podium in fourth. That improved one position over his Moto 1 result and placed him fifth overall. He still has a lot ground to make up on Deegan in the SuperMotocross standings with 20 races remaining in 10 rounds. Dan Beaver, Levi Kitchen entered Round 1 with a lot of attention after scoring solid runs in the 2024 Motocross championship. He failed to live up to the hype in Moto 1 with a modest 10th-place finish, and when his engine expired in Moto 2, he failed to earn any additional points for a 38th-place result. Another potential challenger, Austin Forkner, fared worse. He was the first retiree in Moto 1 and finished one position out of the points in Moto 2 with a 22nd. In his professional debut, Alexander Fedortsov narrowly missed earning points in the first moto with a 22nd and earned three for his 19th-place finish in Moto 2. He was scored 22nd overall.
