Palawan town to be placed under state of calamity after severe flooding
The town of Roxas in Palawan will be placed under a state of calamity following days of severe flooding caused by continuous rains from the southwest monsoon, or habagat, intensified by the recent Tropical Storm #CrisingPH. Roxas Mayor Pedy Sabando confirmed the move in an interview with Super Radyo Palawan DYSP 909Khz, saying the same is based on a recommendation from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC). The Municipal Council approved the recommendation during its regular session on Monday, July 21, 2025. Sabando is expected to sign the declaration on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The local government has allocated P1 million to provide food packs for residents affected by the flooding and currently staying in evacuation centers. Additional assistance has also been sent to Roxas by the Palawan Provincial Government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Rescued 10-feet-long King Cobra released into wild in Palawan

Rizal, Palawan Facebook page An endangered 10-feet-long King Cobra that was found inside a house in Sitio Libtong, Barangay Iraan in Rizal, Palawan was released into the wild after its rescue. According to Super Radyo Palawan's JB Juanich on Thursday, the snake also has a width of 5 inches and weighs 10 kilograms. The reptile was discovered underneath a bed and was immediately reported by residents to authorities. Personnel from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Offices (MENRO) and the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) rescued the King Cobra and released it into the wild. MENRO advised the public to always report to authorities if they found animals out of the wild so they could properly be rescued. Meanwhile, the PCSD said that King Cobras are among threatened species, hence the a need to protect them. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
