Dublin syndicate 'over the moon' with €250,000 EuroMillions win
A Dublin syndicate who won €250,000 in the EuroMillions over the weekend have detailed their shock after initially thinking they won €5,000. The syndicate are the first of a string of lucky punters set to win big over the month with a top up in the prize fund for all nine draws, every Tuesday and Friday, over the month. The EuroMillions draw produces ten winners of the €5,000 Ireland-Only Raffle prize, with an additional €250,000 for one winner in each draw over the next few weeks. Speaking in the Winners Room at National Lottery HQ, the ticket-holder recalled being 'pretty happy' to win €5,000 and rang the other two lads in the syndicate. 'I went back and scanned the ticket online and say, 'You've won €250,000.' I thought surely that's not right? So I re-scanned it once more and it was still there!' he said. 'I had to call them back straight away. We were over the moon!' One member chimed in to say he thought the ticket-holder was ringing to say it was 'all a joke.' Asked what they won be spending their fortunes on, one noted hat their car was 'just started to give up on me,' while another said they were looking forward to 'being able to look after my family.' Six more prizes of €250,000 are still up for grabs over the coming weeks, with previous winners hailing from Dublin, Meath and Limerick. Punters are reminded that they can purchase their tickets for tonight (Tuesday, May 13)'s draw ahead of the 7.30pm cut-off via the app, website or in-store. To play in the Ireland-Only Raffle, all you need to do is purchase a EuroMillions ticket as normal. Each line you play will receive a unique raffle code which is you entry to the special draw.

The first winners of this prize purchased their winning ticket for Friday, May 2 EuroMillions draw from SuperValu Killester, Howth Road, Dublin 3. This series of special EuroMillions Ireland-Only Raffles guarantees players a top up in the prize fund for all nine draws, every Tuesday and Friday, over the month. 'I checked the ticket initially thinking we won €5,000 since the raffle codes matched. I picked up the phone and called the two boys to tell them the news, and we were all pretty happy with that' the ticketholder recalled. 'But seriously, this win means so much to us!' 'I'm really looking forward to being able to look after my family – we're a large family between children and grandchildren, so it's nice to be able to do that' one member added. A Dublin EuroMillions player has become the first of nine players this month to win over €250,000 as part of the Ireland Only Raffle. The Lotto announced earlier this month that nine players who play the EuroMillions this May will win €250,000 on top of the regular €5,000 that they win in the Ireland Only Raffle; netting the players a cool €255k. The first lucky punter has been announced by the National Lottery too, with a player from Killester who bought their ticket on April 29 from SuperValu Killester, Howth Road, Dublin 3 winning the huge sum.
