5 top gadget reviews in June 2025: HP Omnibook 5, Sonos Arc Ultra and more

Not every product I write about comes from a full review cycle. Some I spend days with, others just long enough to form a clear opinion. But each of these stood out in June either for getting something surprisingly right, or trying something different in an otherwise predictable category. Here are five products that left a mark. This one's all about restraint. At a time when AI laptops are tripping over themselves to look futuristic, the Omnibook 5 focuses on being reliable. Its standout feature? Cool, quiet, and consistent performance even under load, paired with surprisingly good battery life. The AI additions are there, but they don't scream for attention, and that's precisely why they work. HP Omnibook 5 Precision, warmth, and a lot of emotional pull. This system doesn't just sound good, it feels immersive. The Arc Ultra and Sub 4 make a case for sound that doesn't overpower but surrounds. What stood out most is how well it handled low-volume detail, and how naturally it blended into daily life once you stopped treating it like a gadget. Sonos Arc Ultra and Sub 4 Dell's Pro 14 isn't trying to be a statement piece, but it gets one thing right: it adapts well to serious work across different environments. The 16:10 screen ratio, the thermals, and its solid productivity performance make it a dependable business-first device. It doesn't cut corners on essentials, even if it slightly overpromises on its premium positioning. Dell Pro 14 (PA14250) Premium This was the surprise package of the month. At under ₹ 10,000, the Super ZX, it becomes one of the most affordable 5G smartphones on the market. This phone delivers just enough power, polish, and display quality to feel usable and not compromised. It's rare to find a phone in this segment that doesn't feel like it was built purely to meet a price. The Super ZX tries to raise the floor instead of chasing specs. Acer Super ZX smartphone The Primebook S is an Android laptop at ₹ 14,490, which sounds like a joke until you actually use it. What it nails is the classroom-first mindset: easy for students, fluid enough for basic tasks, and designed around Google's education tools. It's not trying to be a Windows replacement, it's carving out its own niche. Primebook S Wi-Fi June was an interesting month for reviews. These were the ones that left a lasting impression after use. Stay tunes for the July roundup of such interesting products.

Acer Super ZX review: Gets the basics right

3.5/5 Acer, best known for its laptops and computer accessories, has just launched its first smartphone in India — the Acer Super ZX. Priced at Rs 9,999, it marks the company's entry into the country's crowded and competitive budget smartphone market. Acer Super ZX comes powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor and runs on Android 15 operating system. With this phone, Acer is promising good features at an affordable price. But does the Super ZX have what it takes to stand out from the crowd? I used the phone for a few days to find out. Here's the review Acer Super ZX design and display Acer Super ZX doesn't try to grab attention with flashy colors or bold patterns — and honestly, that works in its favour. It has a clean and modern look that feels just right for everyday use. With a thickness of 8.6mm, the phone is slim enough to hold comfortably in one hand, and the slightly curved back helps with grip. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scam Exposed: What They Won't Tell You about zero trust! Expertinspector Click Here Undo What's surprising is how premium the finish feels, especially for a phone that costs under Rs 10,000. It doesn't feel cheap or plasticky, and the overall build is solid. The weight is well balanced too, so whether you're texting, scrolling through social media, or watching videos, it never feels heavy or awkward in hand. Acer Super ZX comes with a large 6.78-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display and a 120Hz refresh rate, which is not something you usually find at this price. In daily use, the screen feels quite smooth, especially when scrolling through apps or social media. The high refresh rate definitely makes the phone feel faster and more responsive. Acer Super ZX hands-on: What are you getting for Rs 10,000 The colours on the display are decent — not as punchy as AMOLED panels, but still good enough for regular use. Text looks sharp, and watching YouTube or Netflix is a pleasant experience. The size of the screen also makes it good for reading or browsing. Under direct sunlight, the display is usable but not perfect. You may have to increase brightness to the maximum, and even then, it's just about okay. It's not the brightest screen out there, but for indoor use and shaded areas, it works well. Overall, for a budget phone, the display is quite impressive — especially thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate, which gives it a smooth edge over many other phones in this range. Acer Super ZX performance Acer Super ZX is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor. It's available in 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM options, with all variants offering 128GB of non-expandable storage. On the top-end model, you also get an extra 8GB of virtual RAM, which helps improve multitasking. In real-world use, the phone handles everyday tasks smoothly and efficiently. Whether you're browsing the web, checking emails, using social media apps like Instagram or WhatsApp, or switching between them — the experience is fluid. App launches are quick, and there are no noticeable lags during normal usage. Multitasking is also handled well, especially on the 6GB and 8GB RAM versions. You can keep a few apps open in the background and switch between them without the phone slowing down. For most users who just want a phone for basic tasks, this is more than enough. When it comes to gaming, the Super ZX performs reasonably well with casual games. Titles like BGMI (on low settings), Clash Royale, Subway Surfers, and other light or indie games run smoothly without overheating or stuttering. However, if you try more graphics-heavy games like Genshin Impact or Call of Duty: Mobile, the performance takes a hit. This is understandable, though — Acer Super ZX isn't aimed at power users or gamers. It's built for those who want a clean, fast smartphone for daily tasks, and in that regard, it does a good job. Acer Super ZX runs on Android 15 out of the box, which is great to see on a budget phone. What makes the experience even better is that it uses a near-stock Android interface. That means the UI is clean, clutter-free, and easy to use — no heavy skins or complicated menus. There's very little bloatware pre-installed, so you won't find unnecessary apps slowing things down. The overall experience feels smooth and user-friendly, especially for those who prefer a straightforward Android feel without any extra gimmicks. Since this is Acer's first smartphone in India, the company seems to be playing it safe by keeping the software experience close to what Google offers. That's a smart move, especially for users who care about speed and simplicity. While Acer hasn't officially promised anything yet, we hope the phone will get regular software and security updates, considering how important they are for performance and safety. If Acer is serious about smartphones, keeping the Super ZX up to date could help build trust among users. Acer Super ZX camera On the camera front, Acer Super ZX comes with a 64MP main sensor paired with a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. On paper, the 64MP sensor sounds promising — and in good lighting, it does deliver some surprisingly nice photos. Colours are natural with decent details. Photos look good enough for social media or casual sharing. Daylight shots come out clear and well-balanced, especially when there's enough natural light. The autofocus works fairly quickly, and the shutter response is decent. Whether you're clicking pictures of people, pets, or food, the main camera handles most scenes well during the day. However, things start to change in low-light conditions. Photos lose detail, there's visible grain, and the colours can appear washed out. There's no dedicated night mode either, which means the phone struggles in dim settings unless you have a steady hand and some ambient light. As for the 2MP depth and macro lenses, they feel more like filler features. The portrait mode is hit-or-miss — sometimes the background blur looks natural, but other times it cuts too close or too wide. The macro shots require very specific lighting and distance to look good, which most users may not bother with. On the front, the 13MP selfie camera does an okay job. It's good enough for video calls and casual selfies in daylight, but not great in challenging lighting. Overall, the camera setup on the Super ZX is just about right for the price. Acer Super ZX battery The smartphone houses a 5,000mAh battery, which is pretty standard for smartphones in this price range — and it delivers reliable all-day battery life. With regular use like calling, browsing, social media, watching a few videos, and light gaming, the phone easily lasts a full day, sometimes even more if you're not using it heavily. Acer Super ZX comes equipped with 33 watt USB Type-C fast charging support. You can go from 0 to around 50% in about 30 minutes, which is great when you're in a hurry. A full charge takes a little over an hour, which is still quite reasonable for a budget phone. Verdict At Rs 9,999, the Acer Super ZX is a strong first attempt by the company in India's budget smartphone space. It doesn't try to overpromise — instead, it focuses on getting the basics right. You get a smooth 120Hz display, clean Android 15 experience, solid battery life, and good enough performance for daily tasks. While the cameras are average and heavy gaming isn't its strength, that's acceptable given the price point. For users looking for a reliable phone for everyday use — browsing, calling, watching videos, and light gaming — the Super ZX offers great value for money. AI Masterclass for Students. Acer Super ZX review: Disrupting the budget segment with bold design and strong specs

Acer has entered the Indian smartphone market with its budget offering, the Super ZX. The Indian budget smartphone market is already too saturated, but Acer has created a phone that is hard to beat on paper. It features an excellent design, a large high refresh rate display, a triple camera setup, and a large battery. All this, starting at ₹ 9,999, looks like such a great deal. But how does the smartphone perform in real life? I tested this smartphone for a couple of weeks, and here is my experience with the Acer Super ZX. Acer Super ZX unboxing Specification Details Display 6.78-inch FHD+ IPS LCD, 120Hz refresh rate Processor MediaTek Dimensity 6300 (Octa-core) RAM 4GB / 6GB / 8GB Storage 128GB (non-expandable) Rear Camera 64MP (wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) Front Camera 13MP Battery 5000mAh, 33W fast charging Operating System Android 15 Connectivity 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C Price (India) Starting at ₹ 9,999 Acer didn't go with flashy colour schemes or a glossy finish on the Super ZX. It looks and feels like a decent mid-range smartphone with a really nice-looking and solid polycarbonate build. The frame is all plastic-looking without any chrome finish to make it look premium, and that's what I loved about this honest design from Acer. Acer Super ZX Design The back panel is also polycarbonate, but this frosty finish gives it a glass look. It keeps the fingerprints and smudges away from the phone. Its large circular camera module is inspired by modern flagships. Acer also tried to make the smartphone look modern from the front by adding a punch-hole selfie camera. The display does come with a forehead and chin as expected from a budget smartphone. Acer Super ZX Design The in-hand feel of the phone is also pretty good. It's 200 grams and 8.6mm thick. It's got the fingerprint sensor on the side with the power button for convenience. Some notable things on the phone are the stereo speakers and a headphone jack. If there's a feature that punches above the phone's price, it's the display. It is a 6.78-inch IPS display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Acer added a punch-hole instead of dewdrop notches, which is a nice touch. There are significant bezels around the display with a thick chin, but we cannot complain because this is the norm at this price. Acer Super ZX display When it comes to experience, the display is great for videos and other multimedia content. It is bright enough to keep the content visible outdoors under harsh sunlight. The display has some software tweaking going on to imitate the deep blacks and contrast of an OLED panel. But it's done just right to enjoy the content without compromising the experience. Super ZX is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM (plus an additional virtual 8GB RAM boost). It handles every daily task with ease, with quick app launches and fluid multitasking. Casual gaming is also perfectly fine, like running BGMI or indie games. But as soon as we switch to demanding games like Genshin, the performance significantly degrades. Well, this is expected and the target audience of this smartphone isn't gamers, so overall the performance is good. Acer Super ZX OS As expected from Acer, the Super ZX comes preinstalled with the latest Android 15 with a near-stock interface. There is little to no bloatware on the smartphone. While there's no announcement yet, we can expect timely updates since this is the first smartphone from Acer in the Indian market. The triple camera setup at the back includes a 64 MP main sensor, and 2 MP depth and macro lenses. Instead of two 2 MP sensors, the addition of a wide sensor would have been a wise decision. The 64 MP sensor performs really well. I found the colours in the pictures to be a bit oversaturated, but we cannot complain at this price and honestly, these pictures are good enough for social media. Acer Super ZX Camera The 13 MP selfie camera captures decent pictures with good details. For videos, the camera can go up to 2K, and there is software-based stabilisation provided, but it caps the videos at 1080p. There are multiple different camera features to play with, like night mode, pro mode, portrait and more. To future-proof the device, Acer offers 5G connectivity with the Super ZX, and I used my Airtel 5G. The download speed came out to be similar to what I get in my area, and the call quality is also good. The addition of stereo speakers is a surprise at this price, and they are pretty loud and clear too—best for watching videos. Acer Super ZX features a 5000 mAh battery which is large enough to give you more than a day of backup with minimal usage. Power users can also get a whole day of backup with a full charge. The charger comes inside the box and charges the smartphone at 33 watts max. Surprisingly, the charger is a PD charger and comes with a nice braided Type-C to Type-C cable. It charges the smartphone from 0 to 50 percent in half an hour. Clean and solid design Excellent 120Hz IPS display Stereo speakers 5G connectivity Decent camera Fast charging Weak indoor camera performance Not for gamers Mediocre selfie camera Acer did a commendable job at making a budget smartphone that fits Indian needs in all aspects. Also, this is the first smartphone from Acer in the Indian market. The Acer Super ZX is an easy recommendation if anyone is looking for a budget smartphone at ₹ 10,000 with a no-nonsense design, excellent display, good camera and a large battery.
