Couple finds home ransacked, car stolen after vacation
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is facing charges after he was accused of breaking into a couple's home and stealing their car after they left for vacation. Jevonte Williams has been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property $10,000 to $60,000, theft of property $1,000 or less, and evading arrest. According to police, on Tuesday, March 4, officers responded to a burglary call at a home on Dunn Avenue. The residents, a man and his girlfriend, reportedly told police that they had left for vacation on February 27 and when they returned on March 3, they found that their 2018 Volkswagen Atlas was gone. Police say that the couple also told officers that the inside of their home had been 'ransacked' and that numerous items were stolen. Police say that officers noticed that the living room door had been pried open and that one of the bedroom windows had been shattered. The couple reportedly told police that they had left the keys to the Volkswagen inside of their home before they left. Carjacking suspects evade police in pursuit across Memphis Memphis Police say that on Thursday, March 6, detectives spotted the stolen Volkswagen in the parking lot of the Superlo on Quince Road and saw a man, later identified as Williams, in the driver's seat. Police say that detectives tried to apprehend Williams but he ran away. Memphis Police say that detectives chased Williams but lost sight of him after he jumped a fence and ran through a drainage ditch. Police say that detectives and assisting officers set up a perimeter and searched the area. They reportedly found Williams in the drainage ditch behind a home on Kimball Avenue. Detectives searched Williams and reportedly found the key fob to the Volkswagen in his pocket. Memphis Police say that detectives searched the Volkswagen and found multiple packages addressed to a home on Dothan Street. Detectives reportedly went to the home and spoke with a man who said the packages had been stolen off the front porch earlier that day. Police say detectives were able to watch surveillance footage of the theft and identified Williams as the person who stole the packages. Police say that after his arrest, Williams was taken to St. Francis Hospital on Park Avenue to be checked out. Investigators met him at the hospital, and he reportedly told them that he had bought the car from a person called 'C-Lo.' Memphis Police say he was unable to give any details to support his claim. Gang activity believed to be reason for Holly Springs shooting
MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. — A group of shooters accused of putting the lives of multiple people in danger is on the run. Now, one law enforcement officer told WREG that if these people aren't arrested soon, violence could strike again. 'These individuals shouldn't be taken lightly,' Commander Kelly McMillen said. 'They shot these people's house up. There's no remorse for life.' Commander McMillen said it happened February 12 just after 2 a.m. on Bonner Street in Holly Springs. 'We have experienced multiple shootings here in Holly Springs and based on those investigations, what we understand and learned and developed, a lot of those individuals are either teenagers or very young adults,' McMillen said. Armed juveniles accused of fighting Superlo employees Deputies said they found 15 to 20 shell casings inside the home. 'There was an elderly female who was in a wheelchair. When she started hearing the rounds coming inside the house, she abandoned her wheelchair and fell face first on the floor,' McMIllen said. McMillen added that he was shocked that no one was hurt. 'Three other adults in the upstairs area inside the residence took cover and then one of those adults took a minor child and kinda covered him to keep him from being struck by gunfire,' McMillen said. Investigators said they have some clues about the gunmen but not enough to arrest anyone. Woman, toddler injured after man shoots into home 'We believe that there is some gang activity involved in this,' McMillen said. 'One of these incidents happened while vehicles were passing in the road. It's not like they target a central location; they target wherever they see these individuals at.' McMillen said that's why it's important for anyone who may know anything about the Bonner Street shooting or any of the other Holly Springs shootings to call investigators. 'Until we make some arrests, we do believe there could be other incidents that could take place,' McMillen said. Armed juveniles accused of fighing Superlo employees
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two armed juveniles were detained after fighting employees at Superlo in East Memphis Sunday afternoon, police say. Officers say they responded to an aggravated assault call at the Superlo Foods Store on 4571 Quince Road just before 1:20 p.m. Several suspects armed with firearms were accused of causing a disturbance at the business. The store manager told police that it all started when one of the employees escorted the suspect off the premises. She says the suspect was repeatedly told to stay out of the store due to him stealing. 17 arrests made at Binghampton home before it was deemed a public nuisance That is when the suspect allegedly returned to the store with his mother and began arguing with the employees about them putting their hands on her son. During the argument, an employee says the suspect punched her on the right side of her face. The victim's brother is also accused of coming into the store, arguing before hitting an employee in the head with an unknown object. The security guard says he saw the suspects with one assault rifle and a handgun, however, they were not pointed at anyone in the store. When officers made it to the scene, they determined that the suspects were the aggressors, and they were detained at that time. They were then released and placed on an Authorization of Agency list, meaning they are banned from the property. The unknown suspects were not identified. However, the Department of Children's Services was called due to the two suspects being underage. Just last week, suspects were caught on camera attacking two Super Lo Foods employees at the same location. Police say video footage from the store showed three men come into the business and physically assault two older male employees.
