Six men were detained by police in connection with a fight during a football match that went viral on social media at Padang Dudan in Kampung Piasau in Kota Belud district on Sunday (July 21).
Kota Belud district police chief Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said the suspects aged 24-42 were arrested at around midnight Sunday following a police report lodged at 4.30pm earlier the same day.
He said that the fight involved supporters of both teams and police were investigating the case under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and disturbing the public peace.
He urged the public not to speculate as it could interfere with the investigation and instead come forward with any information about the incident to the police.

A video went viral on social media showing a fight between several individuals believed to be football players and supporters, which was said to have occurred at the Padang Dudan.
