Surekha takes a swipe at BRS for ‘doctoring' facts

Hyderabad: Endowments Minister Konda Surekha on Friday said that her comments regarding ministers taking bribes was pertaining to the previous BRS regime and added that her comments were twisted and it was a clear case of cut and paste by the paid social media batch of BRS. Responding to the attacks by the BRS leaders, Konda Surekha said that there has been misleading propaganda regarding her comments made in Warangal on Thursday. 'I had talked about ministers during the BRS regime, who used to take money for doing any work and these were facts. They often used to demand payments for processing files, a truth that many are unaware of,' said Surekha. The BRS leaders were unable to digest the government working effectively hence the BRS paid batch was spreading negativity. 'The video circulating misrepresents my comments, selectively editing them to serve a narrative. This tactic aims to sow discord among our cabinet members, which is unacceptable. All ministers in our Congress government are performing exceptionally well, and our government employees recognise our capability in administration. The BRS party's strategy of disseminating fraudulent propaganda is evident. I cannot tolerate such deceit, and I will hold those people accountable,' said Surekha. The Minister recalled the comments of former minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, who had exposed the corruption associated with Mission Kakatiya, which he termed as 'Commission Kakatiya'. Furthermore, it was revealed by the BRS chief KCR that the MLAs were charging 30 per cent commission from the beneficiaries of Dalit Bandhu scheme. People have taught the BRS a lesson in the elections but still the opposition leaders were unable to learn from it.

Opp distorting my statement: Konda Surekha

Hyderabad: Endowments and forest minister Konda Surekha on Friday said that her statement on 'ministers taking bribes' was being distorted when her true objective was to highlight the corruption by ministers during the previous BRS govt. On Thursday, speaking at a function for a building to be built by a private firm at govt girl's junior college in Warangal under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Surekha had said, "Usually, ministers take money to clear files, but not me. I ask companies to participate in community service." Her statement kicked up a political storm, with the BRS and BJP latching onto it. BJP chief G Kishan Reddy said CM Revanth should order a probe into the alleged bribery issue. BRS working president KT Rama Rao alleged that the Congress was running a commission sarkar in Telangana. He said it was now an open secret that ministers do not sign files without a cut and urged Surekha to name all such ministers. He also sought to know if Revanth or Rahul Gandhi would order an inquiry. Surekha later clarified on X that she was referring to ministers of the previous BRS govt. "The BRS has intentionally distorted my statement. The Congress govt is delivering governance transparently. Unable to stomach the good work, the BRS is conducting false campaigns on social media," she said.

Special poojas held across State for soldiers' safety

Hyderabad: Special poojas were conducted at various temples across the State, praying for the safety of Indian soldiers amid the war-like situation following Operation Sindoor, launched by the armed forces in retaliation to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Endowments Minister Konda Surekha on Friday gave key instructions to the Endowment Department officials to hold special poojas in every temple in the State to ensure the success of 'Operation Sindoor' undertaken by the Indian Army. 'It is an occasion when we all need to stand by the Indian armed forces at such a critical time. It is a matter of joy that the second attack on terrorist camps in Pakistan by India, Operation Sindoor, was successful,' said Surekha. 'Terrorism, no matter what form it takes, wherever it is, must be dealt with sternly. Operation Sindoor, the Indian military's action against the recent attack on our country's citizens in Kashmir, is welcomed by everyone. Not as a Telangana Minister, but as a citizen of such a great country, I am very happy about this action. We cannot bring back the brave soldiers we lost in Pulwama, their sacrifice is eternal. We will remember them as long as we live,' said Surekha. Special pooja was performed in temples including Sri Kaleshwara Muktheswara Temple, Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple at Karmanghat, Ketaki Sangameshwara Swamy Temple in Zaheerabad, Kala Bhairava Swamy Temple in the city.
