Naidu betrayed weavers: YSRCP
Guntur: YSRCP organised celebrations of National Handloom Day on Thursday at Tadepalli, where party leaders, including MLC Lella Appi Reddy, former Devanga Corporation Chairman Surendra Babu, and former APCO Chairman Chillapalli Mohan Rao, launched a scathing attack on the coalition government for its failure to uplift the handloom sector. They accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his administration of betraying weavers by abandoning election promises, plunging the community into distress, while contrasting this with the transformative support provided during the YSRCP's tenure under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The leaders highlighted the coalition government's inaction on critical promises, including GST relief, free electricity up to 200 units, health insurance, and the Nethanna Nestham scheme, which remain unfulfilled 14 months into their rule. MLC Lella Appireddy asserted, 'Under YS Jagan's leadership, weavers flourished with Rs 3,700 crore in aid over five years, including Rs 1.2 lakh to 85,000 families through Nethanna Nestham.' Today, the coalition government offers nothing but empty words, leaving weavers in despair, he said.

YSRCP slams Naidu govt for neglecting weavers, breaking handloom promises
The YSRCP on Thursday accused the NDA-led Andhra Pradesh government of "neglecting" the handloom sector and "abandoning" key pre-poll promises, alleging that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's administration had "betrayed the weaver community and pushed them into distress." YSRCP leaders hit out at Naidu govt on National Handloom Day, accusing it of abandoning weavers and failing to act on key welfare promises made before polls.(CMO Andhra Pradesh-X) YSRCP leaders, including MLC Lella Appi Reddy, Surendra Babu, and Chillapalli Mohan Rao, said the government's inaction had deepened the crisis faced by weavers. This came after Naidu marked National Handloom Day with promises to support weavers and revive the handloom sector. "Naidu and his administration have betrayed weavers by abandoning election promises, leaving the community in crisis," the leaders alleged in a press release. Appi Reddy claimed that under the previous YSRCP government, benefits worth ₹3,700 crore were extended to the handloom sector, including ₹1.2 lakh each to 85,000 weaver families. He accused the NDA coalition of "making hollow and misleading promises". The YSRCP leaders criticised the current government for allegedly failing to implement schemes such as free electricity, GST relief, and health insurance for weavers, even after 14 months in power. He alleged that the government continued to impose the same tax burden on weavers. He also alleged that the promised free electricity scheme remained unimplemented, even six months after an official order was issued. Chillapalli Mohan Rao claimed that the previous YSRCP government had tripled weavers' income and cleared dues worth ₹400 crore owed by the Andhra Pradesh State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society (APCO). He added that showrooms were also constructed during Jagan Mohan Reddy's tenure, unlike the 'symbolic gestures' from the current administration. The YSRCP demanded immediate fulfillment of promises made to weavers, warning that "continued neglect would deepen the crisis in the sector."

NABARD sees credit potential of ₹4.46 lakh crore for Karnataka in FY26
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) forecast a credit potential of ₹4.46 lakh crore for Karnataka for the financial year 2025–26, aligning closely with State-Level Bankers' Committee's annual credit plan of ₹4.38 lakh crore, said Surendra Babu, chief general manager, Karnataka Regional Office, here on Tuesday. Speaking at NABARD's 44th Foundation Day event held here, he said NABARD's total business operations, since its inception, in the State reached an all-time high of ₹27,846 crore, which included ₹21,442 crore in refinance assistance to banks and cooperative institutions, ₹4,974 crore in infrastructure finance to the State government, and ₹1,431 crore in direct refinance to district central cooperative banks. According to him, this year, ₹4,500 crore was sanctioned to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board for developing industrial parks in the State, which are expected to generate employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for nearly 60,000 rural youth and women. Elaborating on NABARD's digital outreach and financial inclusion efforts, he said, over 4,200 micro-ATMs were deployed to enhance last-mile banking access. Some ₹3.08 crore was sanctioned to the Karnataka Gramin Bank to develop connectivity infrastructure in underserved areas. NABARD released a booklet titled 'Success Stories of FPOs in Karnataka', which documented the inspiring journeys of farmer-producer organisations across the State. The booklet showcases how small and marginal farmers have successfully come together to access markets, add value to their produce, embrace digital platforms, and establish inclusive and resilient business models. NABARD has played a key role in supporting sustainable agriculture, developing secondary agriculture, creating value addition and in the development of rural infrastructure in Karnataka, acknowledged Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, she urged farmers in the State to make full use of NABARD's schemes and become entrepreneurs. Elaborating on value addition, the Chief Secretary said, instead of selling mangoes as raw produce, farmers should process them into various products and sell them. Recently, the price of Totapuri mango variety crashed, and if mango farmers set up small processing units in their villages, they would be able to earn income round the year, she said.
