Corfu hotel regulars hit back at 'pathetic chavs' after Brit gran moans about 'no English food'
British holidaymakers have defended a popular hotel in Corfu after a number of guests - including a furious grandmother who complained of 'no English food' - left scathing reviews online. The Lido Corfu Sun Hotel has been inundated with negative reviews on TripAdvisor throughout May, including a relentless evaluation from Susan Edwards, who recently shared her 'nightmare' experience at the all-inclusive, four-star hotel. Ms Edwards, 69, from Newcastle, paid £750 for the seven-night holiday to the Greek island, but blasted the hotel's dining options, insisting 'there was no food we could eat and we couldn't have anything to drink.' On the first morning, she recalled being offered 'toast, a hard boiled egg or something in sauce. There was no bacon,' while the following day's breakfast was 'mozzarella and sliced tomatoes,' and 'no hot bacon or sausage.' She added: 'There was fish, sardines and rice - I was sick to death of looking at rice. One night there was a Greek night and they had kebabs, I couldn't eat that. It's the worst holiday I've ever been on.' In her TripAdvisor review, the grandmother vowed to 'never visit Greece again,' and urged English visitors to 'stay away' from the hotel unless they preferred to eat 'tomatoes and olives.' The Lido Corfu Sun Hotel has dismissed Ms Edwards' claims as 'inaccurate' and 'exaggerated' - but a number of loyal guests have since clapped back at 'old crows' and 'entitled' holidaymakers who have left negative reviews concerning food. On TripAdvisor, one guest wrote: 'Don't listen to pathetic chavvy Brits and Poles who bought the cheapest "All Inclusive" package in existence and demanded type of service only the most entitled and uncouth would. 'It's a fine, charming little place. Close to water, nice food and clean facilities. Thankfully, no British food!' Another regular praised the hotel's 'clean' environment and 'fantastic' staff, along with the restaurant's 'authentic Greek' food. Taking aim at what appeared to be Susan's review, they quipped: 'This is Greece not Newcastle upon Tyne. 'There was Scottish food and it was delicious, but oh those Greeks they know how to make Greek food, could you imagine, going to Greece and there was no Greek food, wow! 'Even when old crows complain "There's no beans on Warburtons toast" "It's not authentic English" the staff smile and go out of their way to do anything they can to help. It's a shame the compo hunters descended.' One Scottish holidaymaker left a hilarious tongue-in-cheek review, writing: 'Excellent all inclusive food and drink package, they really go out their way to cater for Scottish visitors. 'We enjoyed draught Tennant's lager, Irn Bru was on tap (diet and full fat), square sausage on a roll at breakfast, scotch pies and bridies at lunchtime, and there was always a choice of haggis or mince 'n tatties at dinner.' They added: 'Tunnock's tea cakes and shortbread were available all day, along with Scottish Blend tea. The Greek dishes are also immense, which is a bonus, as Corfu is in Greece.' A number of loyal guests have since clapped back at 'old crows' and 'entitled' British holidaymakers who have left negative reviews concerning food Along with the food, Ms Edwards complained of 'inattentive' staff, 'steep' outdoor surroundings, a 'lack of' entertainment and general issues with access. The hotel said: 'Our buffet is rich and diverse every single day, offering fresh salads, fruits, vegetables, cold and hot dishes that meet a variety of European and Mediterranean tastes. The idea that we served "only rice and sardines" is false. 'From the very first day of her arrival, it was evident that the guest was looking for excuses. She even complained about the weather, among other irrelevant matters.

Brits who stay at Corfu hotel blast 'pathetic chavs' after gran's 'no English food' moan
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Guests at the Lido Corfu Sun Hotel in Corfu, which was recently criticised by a British grandmother for its limited English food options, have fired back at reviewers they've dubbed "pathetic chavs". Susan Edwards, 69, sparked the debate after expressing her frustration with the lack of chips and excessive rice dishes. However, the hotel's management defended their menu, describing it as "generous and diverse" with daily offerings of fresh salads, fruits, and hot and cold dishes. In response to the controversy, loyal customers have taken to review platforms like Tripadvisor and Google to defend the hotel, dismissing Ms Edwards' criticism as unfair. One reviewer was so incensed that they created a new account specifically to respond to the backlash, giving the hotel a glowing five-star review, reports the Mirror. The account, created only this month seemingly in response to the row, rated Lido Corfu Sun Hotel as five stars out of five. The review reads: "Don't listen to pathetic chavvy Brits and Poles who bought the cheapest 'all Inclusive' package in existence and demanded type of service only the most entitled and uncouth would. It's a fine, charming little place. Close to water, nice food and clean facilities. Thankfully, no British food!" (Image: Iain Buist/Newcastle Chronicle) Another reviewer also leaves a subtle dig at Ms Edwards' whinge, insisting the Greek food is delicious. They, seemingly tongue in cheek, praised the offerings for Scottish guests in the critique, left hours after Ms Edwards' story emerged. The tourist wrote: "Phenomenal hotel, very comfortable and well located for a relaxing holiday, we are regular visitors. Excellent all inclusive food and drink package, they really go out their way to cater for Scottish visitors. "We enjoyed draught Tennant's lager, Irn Bru was on tap (diet and full fat), square sausage on a roll at breakfast, scotch pies and bridies at lunchtime, and there was always a choice of haggis or mince 'n tatties at dinner. Tunnock's tea cakes and shortbread were available all day, along with Scottish Blend tea. The staff are lovely and cannot do enough for you. The Greek dishes are also immense, which is a bonus, as Corfu is in Greece." And the majority of guests on Google Reviews rated Lido Corfu Sun Hotel as five stars out of five. Plenty of these top reviews have been published in the last few days in the wake of the criticism. One reads: "The food is delicious. The service is great. We arrived at 4am and at 8am we got a room and wristbands and we could use everything. On the day of departure after adding the key to the transfer itself we could use all the facilities and food. We sincerely recommend." It jars hugely with Ms Edwards' experience as the gran, from Westerhope, Newcastle, said her holiday was "horrendous" from the minute she, her two cousins, her second cousin and her daughter arrived. TUI offered the guests £100 in holiday vouchers, with a spokesperson saying they were "sorry to hear" about her experience. They said: "Our priority is to ensure customers have the best possible holiday experience, so we are sorry to hear that Ms Edwards felt dissatisfied with her holiday. We have been in touch directly with Ms Edwards to come to a resolution." Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox Find out what's happening near you

Guests at hotel blast 'chavs' & defend 'delicious' Greek food after gran's moan
Regular guests at the Corfu hotel lambasted by a British gran for its lack of so-called English grub have hit out at "pathetic chavs" leaving negative reviews. The Lido Corfu Sun Hotel on the Greek isle was thrust into the limelight this week following Susan Edwards, 69, moaning about the scarcity of chips and her frustration at constantly seeing rice. The hotel's management has since defended their menu, touting it as "generous and diverse", with a daily spread of "fresh salads, fruits, hot and cold dishes". In the wake of the controversy, guests have flocked to Tripadvisor and Google Reviews to champion the resort they adore, claiming Ms Edwards' gripes are unjust. One so incensed penned their inaugural Tripadvisor critique to label fellow holidaymakers as "pathetic chavs". This profile, freshly set-up this month apparently as a retort to the dispute, awarded the Lido Corfu Sun Hotel top marks. Their review states: "Don't listen to pathetic chavvy Brits and Poles who bought the cheapest 'all Inclusive' package in existence and demanded type of service only the most entitled and uncouth would. It's a fine, charming little place. Close to water, nice food and clean facilities. Thankfully, no British food!". Another commentator also sneaks in a sly jab at Ms Edwards' complaints, asserting the Greek cuisine is scrumptious. They, with apparent sarcasm, praised the way in which the hotel caters for Scottish visitors in their appraisal, posted mere hours after Ms Edwards' grievances hit the headlines, reports the Mirror. The traveller wrote: "Phenomenal hotel, very comfortable and well located for a relaxing holiday, we are regular visitors. The Greek dishes are also immense, which is a bonus, as Corfu is in Greece." Praise continued on Google Reviews, where most pegged Lido Corfu Sun Hotel with top marks - five stars. One of the recent glowing reviews stated: "The food is delicious. The service is great. We arrived at 4am and at 8am we got a room and wristbands and we could use everything. On the day of departure after adding the key to the transfer itself we could use all the facilities and food. We sincerely recommend." Ms Edwards, a gran from Westerhope, Newcastle, described her holiday as "horrendous" from the moment she and her family arrived, including her two cousins, second cousin, and daughter. TUI responded to the fiasco by offering the guests €120 in holiday vouchers, with a spokesperson expressing their regret: "Our priority is to ensure customers have the best possible holiday experience, so we are sorry to hear that Ms Edwards felt dissatisfied with her holiday. We have been in touch directly with Ms Edwards to come to a resolution."

Guests rush to defence of Corfu hotel after British gran moaned about lack of chips Lido Corfu Sun Hotel was slammed by 69-year-old Susan Edwards, who claimed there was 'no food we could eat', but other guests have some different opinions Susan Edwards, who had a 'nightmare' holiday in Corfu (Image: Iain Buist/Newcastle Chronicle ) A displeased British holidaymaker's critique about the lack of English grub at Corfu's Lido Corfu Sun Hotel has prompted fellow vacationers to come to the establishment's defence. The hotel, nestled on the picturesque eastern coast of Greece's famed island, was thrown into the limelight after Susan Edwards, aged 69, condemned her 'nightmare' getaway arranged via TUI, claiming an absence of palatable options with gripes about a shortage of chips leading her to be 'sick to death of looking at rice'. Defending the range of fare on offer, the hotel manager proclaimed the menu 'generous and diverse', highlighting that 'fresh salads, fruits, hot and cold dishes' were readily available each day. One individual, visibly irked, penned their inaugural Tripadvisor critique denouncing certain visitors as 'pathetic chavs'. The account, set up in direct reaction to the dispute this month, awarded the Lido Corfu Sun Hotel a full five-star accolade, reports the Manchester Evening News. Their impassioned review stated: "Don't listen to pathetic chavvy Brits and Poles who bought the cheapest 'all inclusive' package in existence and demanded type of service only the most entitled and uncouth would. It's a fine, charming little place. Close to water, nice food and clean facilities. Thankfully, no British food!". In recent days, following the initial grievance expressed, an array of glowing reviews have also surfaced on Google Reviews for Lido Corfu Sun Hotel, many awarding it a perfect score. One happy visitor commented on the platform: "The food is delicious. The service is great. We arrived at 4am and at 8am we got a room and wristbands and we could use everything. On the day of departure after adding the key to the transfer itself we could use all the facilities and food. We sincerely recommend." Ms Edwards claimed her holiday turned into a nightmare the instant she, along with her family arrived, alleging it was 'horrendous' from the get-go. The gran from Westerhope, Newcastle – who suffers from ulcerative colitis – emphasised the necessity of being 'very careful' about her diet. "On a morning you could have toast, a hard boiled egg, or something in sauce," she recounted. "There was no bacon. For breakfast there was mozzarella and sliced tomatoes. There was no hot bacon or sausage. "One day we had chips. One day out of the whole lot. There were fish, sardines and rice - I was sick to death of looking at rice. There was pasta and salads, none of which were marked (labelled). There was a Greek night where they served kebabs; I couldn't eat that. It's the worst holiday I've ever been on." In response, TUI sympathetically offered Ms Edwards £100 in holiday vouchers, with their representative expressing regret over her ordeal.
