Woman killed after tanker trailers detach from tractor, veer off roadway
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Lakeland woman was struck and killed in her driveway Tuesday morning in Pointe Coupee Parish.
Susan Shows, 74, was hit before 9:30 a.m. on LA 1 near U.S. 190. Louisiana State Police said a John Deere Tractor hauling tandem tanker trailers detached and veered off the roadway, hitting Shows.
Shows died from her injuries in a hospital.
Troopers said impairment is not suspected in this crash but a standard toxicology sample will be taken for analysis.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. LSP said charges will be determined based on findings.
