MoU Signed to Implement Sustainable Technical Management System in Wastewater Plants The Water Authority of Jordan, along with Miyahuna, Aqaba Water, and Yarmouk Water companies, signed a memorandum of understanding to apply the Technical Sustainable Management System (TSM Jordan) in wastewater treatment plants across the Kingdom. اضافة اعلان The Ministry of Water and Irrigation said Tuesday that the agreement is part of national efforts to improve the operation and maintenance efficiency of treatment plants, ensure compliance with technical and environmental standards, and enhance institutional capacity through training, certification, and specialized technical inspections. Under the MoU, the Water Authority will organize regular training programs to qualify certified technical inspectors and accredit plants that meet the system's requirements. Water companies will provide the technical support needed to implement and expand the system in the future. Water Authority Secretary-General Sufian Batayneh said during the signing ceremony, attended by representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and company directors, that the TSM system directly contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 on water and sanitation. He added that the MoU marks a significant step forward in managing and operating wastewater treatment plants, strengthening technical governance and transparency in this vital sector. (Petra)

First meeting of Türkiye-UAE high level strategic council

The Meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council reflected the determination of both countries to further advance the bilateral ties and close cooperation across a broad range of shared objectives between the Republic of Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates. The discussions covered numerous areas of cooperation that gained significant momentum in recent years, such as economy, trade, defence, innovation, cybersecurity, industry, technology, education, culture, energy, including renewable energy, environment, transportation, infrastructure, agriculture and tourism. Leveraging the Comprehensive and Economic Partnership Agreement, and drawing on bilateral economic, trade and investment mechanisms such as the Joint Economic Commission and Joint Economic and Trade Committee, the two Leaders discussed avenues to enhance mutual investments and trade, including exploring the potential for complementary and resilient trade routes, as well as areas of cooperation to support sustainable economic growth and facilitate regional and international trade. The two Leaders also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors in both countries with a view to fostering bilateral partnerships as well as collaboration opportunities in third countries. The two Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, recognising the critical role of sustainable, secure and diversified energy resources in driving economic growth and climate resilience. They emphasised their shared ambition to explore practical opportunities to advance energy transition in line with national priorities. In this context, they welcomed the global goal, as reflected in Paragraph 28 of the Global Stocktake outcome adopted at COP28, to double the global rate of energy efficiency improvement and triple renewable energy capacity by 2030 and expressed their intention to contribute to its achievement through national and bilateral actions. They expressed their common will to enhance cooperation between the two countries based on goodwill and friendship, particularly in renewable energy and hydrocarbons, including joint projects to be realised on the basis of mutual benefit. The two leaders reaffirmed the significance of the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Senegal, to be held in the UAE in December 2026, focused on accelerating the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6, ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. They also commended the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative as a significant contribution to advancing technological innovation tackling water scarcity. The two Leaders also emphasised the significance of maintaining the existing momentum in bilateral relations and focused on emerging and advanced technologies as a promising field of cooperation. While highlighting the key role of their young, dynamic and well-educated populations in fostering innovation, competitiveness and sustainable economic growth, they reiterated their will to collaborate in cutting-edge digital technologies. His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and His Highness President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also underscored the importance of cooperation in cultural and social fields and agreed to promote exchanges that will contribute to the strong bonds of brotherhood between the Turkish and Emirati peoples. The two sides reaffirmed their resolve to enhance defence and security cooperation by capacity-building, exchanging expertise and sharing know-how. This landmark visit provided an opportunity to address bilateral and regional developments. Reflecting their countries' roles in advancing regional security, stability and prosperity, the two sides emphasised their shared commitment to work together to promote dialogue and the principles of international law to achieve a peaceful, stable, secure and prosperous environment in the region. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, expressed his profound appreciation to His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to His Highness and the delegation of the United Arab Emirates during their stay in Türkiye. The two leaders witnessed the signing of seven bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding. The two leaders agreed to hold the next meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council in Abu Dhabi in 2026, on a date to be determined through diplomatic channels. 10 July 2025 09:35 NEW YORK (WAM) At a high-level preparatory meeting convened by the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Member States formally adopted, by consensus, the themes of the six interactive dialogues of the 2026 United Nations Water Conference (2026 UNWC), held in the United Arab Emirates in December next adoption marks a pivotal milestone in the lead-up to the 2026 UNWC, which aims to elevate the global water agenda and catalyse collective action and ambitions on water-related challenges. As the first UN conference focused on accelerating progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 6 (ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all), the 2026 UNWC presents a vital opportunity to drive meaningful, global 2024, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Senegal, as co-hosts of the 2026 Conference, have led a robust, inclusive consultation process involving Member States and various stakeholders, including international organisations, civil society organisations, NGOs, the private sector, and efforts were anchored by the Organisational Session held on March 3, 2025 at the UN Headquarters in New York, where initial inputs and proposals on dialogue themes were formally gathered, followed by a month-long online consultation process during which contributions and recommendations from all stakeholder groups were carefully reviewed and integrated into the development of the final themes for the interactive six themes officially adopted for the interactive dialogues are:* Water for People* Water for Prosperity* Water for Planet* Water for Cooperation* Water in Multilateral Processes* Investments for WaterAssistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, Abdulla Balalaa, stated, 'Water connects us all, and our actions must reflect that shared responsibility.' He added, 'This Conference is our moment to course-correct - to set the world on a pathway of accelerated, coordinated, and sustained water action. To demonstrate progress on clean water and access, we must leverage investments, innovation, and partnerships to secure a sustainable water future for all.'Following this milestone, the UAE and Senegal will begin the co-chairs selection process for each of the interactive selected co-chairs, working in close collaboration with the co-hosts and other stakeholders, will play a key role in shaping the thematic discussions and desired outcomes of the Conference. This selection process will conclude prior to the next major preparatory milestone scheduled to take place in Dakar, Senegal, on January 26-27, week in New York also featured a series of high-level meetings and engagements to advance the UAE's preparations and international collaboration in the lead-up to hosting the 2026 UN Water Conference, co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal, will be held in the UAE in December of next Conference aims to accelerate action toward the achievement of SDG6 and mobilise global efforts to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. The UAE concluded by affirming its determination to forge forward-looking partnerships that deliver tangible outcomes, stating, 'The question is not only where we are headed – but how we get there. Our path must be efficient, future-focused, and rooted in the needs of the communities we serve.'
