Oman: Transformation and Sustainable Leadership forum kicks off in Salalah
SALALAH - The Government Transformation and Sustainable Leadership Conference commenced in Salalah yesterday under the auspices of Shaikh Salim Mustahail Al-Mashani, Advisor at the Royal Court Affairs. The three-day conference, held as part of the 2025 Labour Forum organized by the Ministry of Labour, is attracted broad participation from experts and specialists from within the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The conference programme includes a number of panel discussions and workshops focusing on key issues related to labour market transformations and future skills. The first session, entitled Modern Organizational Structures: From Bureaucracy to Institutional Agility, featured working papers addressing: institutional challenges in administrative bodies, tools for organizational restructuring, re-engineering of procedures, in addition to case studies from certain countries. Over the coming days, the conference will feature several sessions on behavioral engineering, governmental leadership, competencies and talent empowerment, smart management, in addition to a number of international experiences. The conference aims to stimulate innovation and professional development, and to showcase the latest modern technologies and innovations in the labour market to increase productivity, open new horizons, enhance social dialogue, and foster professional communication to create constructive cooperation among specialists and those interested in the labour market. This is in order to create a decent work environment and improve regulatory labour policies, thereby enhancing the labour market's regulatory framework in line with economic, technological, and social developments, as well as to promote international and regional cooperation by expanding partnerships with international and regional counterparts to exchange experiences, practices, and knowledge. During his opening speech, Nasser Salem Al Hadhrami, Director General of Labour in Dhofar Governorate, stated: 'At the Ministry of Labour, and in light of Oman Vision 2040, we believe that change begins from within. We have worked to build an integrated system of innovation and empowerment. We have launched qualitative initiatives that are not merely programs, but rather investments in people – to build a generation of leaders capable of steering transformation. Over the past years, we have developed numerous policies and digital platforms, as well as leadership and capacity-building programs. We have launched pioneering projects that support results-based work and strengthen our partnerships with the private and academic sectors.' Salalah: The Conference on Government Transformation and Sustainable Leadership began today in the Wilayat of Salalah, the Governorate of Dhofar. Organised by the Ministry of Labour over three days as part of the Labour Forum 2025, the conference brings together experts and specialists from Oman and other GCC countries. The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Salim Mustahail Al Maashani, Advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court, with the attendance of Dr. Mahad Said Ba'owain, Minister of Labour, and a number of officials. Sharjah Chamber celebrates graduation of 26 participants of 2nd Strategic Business Leadership Programme 2025
Sharjah, The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) hosted a graduation ceremony for 26 participants of the 2nd cycle of the 'Strategic Business Leadership Programme 2024–2025". The participants comprised employees from both government and private-sector institutions operating in the emirate. Held under the theme "Begin Your Successful Leadership Journey", the programme was organised by the Sharjah Training and Development Centre (STDC) affiliated with the Chamber, in cooperation with the Spain-based University of Salamanca. It focused on equipping participants with advanced methodologies to foster sustainable leadership, draft strategic plans and innovative solutions in work environments, and cultivate future-oriented organisational cultures. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI; H.E. Mohammad Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI; and Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for the Support Services Sector at SCCI, along with representatives from the participating government entities. The second edition of the programme attracted high-potential talents from both government and private sectors. Its training modules covered key areas, including business psychology, artificial intelligence (AI) in next-generation institutional leadership, design thinking in challenge management, innovative strategy development, risk management techniques, creative institution design, and organisational innovation. In his remarks, H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais said that the Strategic Business Leadership Programme aims to produce a new cadre of qualified leaders, reflecting the fundamental shifts in institutional leadership concepts. 'Digital technologies require unconventional leadership capabilities. Accordingly, the Sharjah Chamber adopts an advanced leadership development framework focused on adaptability and continuous growth, equipping leaders to merge practical experience with contemporary management knowledge,' he added. For her part, Maryam Saif Al Shamsi noted that the programme was designed to offer a comprehensive educational experience combining theoretical content with applied practice. It featured workshops led by accredited international experts and practical capstone projects. She added that the programme concluded with a field study tour to Spain in collaboration with the University of Salamance, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore global best practices and gain hands-on experience and global insights that will enhance their careers and strengthen their leadership skills. The graduation ceremony featured a visual presentation outlining the programme's milestones and the comprehensive training offered to participants. The programme integrated academic insights from renowned global institutions with hands-on learning through workshops and project work. This approach underscored the programme's value in equipping participants with both theoretical expertise and practical leadership competencies. The ceremony concluded with H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais and Maryam Saif Al Shamsi honouring the programme's participants, representing the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) and other government and private entities operating in Sharjah. Participants were awarded the 'Certified Internal Consultant' certificate, formally recognising their entry into Sharjah's distinguished community of business leaders and strategic decision-makers.
