UFC 319 adds DWCS newcomer Baisangur Susurkaev on four days' notice

Less than 24 hours after becoming a UFC fighter, Baisangur Susurkaev already has his first matchup – and it's this weekend at UFC 319. Susurkaev (9-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) was the shining star of Tuesday's Dana White's Contender Series as the only fighter to record a finish. After awarding him a UFC contract, promotion CEO Dana White gushed over Susurkaev's performance and potential, even stating on the broadcast that the matchmakers were eager to get him into the octagon as soon as possible. After taking his DWCS fight on four days' notice, he will now take his first fight in the same amount of time to face fellow newcomer Eric Nolan. The middleweight bout will be the 15th of the UFC 319 lineup, which takes place at United Center in Chicago. MMA Junkie confirmed the news with two sources following a first report from X user @zaclikesmma. Susurkaev stopped Murtaza Talha with a perfectly-placed body kick in the opening round of his DWCS appearance. The undefeated 24-year-old has only gone the distance once in his professional career. On the opposite side of the octagon will be Nolan (8-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who recently captured the CFFC welterweight title in May. Currently riding a four-fight winning streak, Nolan, 27, has finished three straight opponents. With the addition, the current UFC 319 lineup includes:

Baisangur Susurkaev wants UFC 319 turnaround on Chimaev card after DWCS contract win

LAS VEGAS – Now that Baisangur Susurkaev has a UFC deal, he doesn't want to waste any time getting his tenure in the promotion started. Susurkaev (9-0) earned a UFC contract Tuesday on the first episode of DWCS this season. His finish was the only one on the card and earned high praise from UFC CEO Dana White. Susurkaev took it to Murtaza Talha (7-2) early, then finished him with a stifling teep to the midsection at the 3:12 mark of the first round. Susurkaev said White talking him up after the event, saying he "saved" the card with his finish, gave the 24-year-old Chechen encouragement. He also said if he could fight later this week at UFC 319 under headlining countryman Khamzat Chimaev, with whom he's trained, he'd jump at the chance. That would be five days' notice if any middleweights have issues in Chicago – and Susurkaev noted he took his DWCS fight on four days' notice when he stepped in for a fighter who pulled out. "I'm very happy – I really wanted to impress Dana. I'm happy I was able to do that and get the contract," Susurkaev said. "I asked Dana to give me an opportunity to fight on the same card as Khamzat Chimaev … I'm willing and able. If they want to give me a chance, they know how to find me and who to call." Check out Susurkaev's full post-fight news conference in the video above.

DWCS 77 video: Baysangur Susurkaev 'saves' Dana White's Tuesday with gnarly TKO

"You saved my Tuesday." That's what Dana White told Baysangur Susurkaev after a devastating body kick knockout Tuesday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Susurkaev (9-0) teeped Murtaza Talha (7-2) in the midsection for the TKO stoppage at 3:04 of Round 1. The middleweight bout took place at Dana White's Contender Series 77, the show's season premiere. Susurkaev, 24, is a training partner of Khamzat Chimaev but he also trains at Kill Cliff FC with the likes of training partner Gregory Rodrigues and others. He stepped in on days' notice for this fight and capitalized on it violently. The finish couldn't come at a time where the UFC brass thirsted that violence more. The previous two fights to kick off the season were lackluster decisions. Susurkaev will likely earn a UFC contract as a result of his performance. Up-to-the-minute DWCS 77 results include:
