Wexford native looks to add another crown to collection at International pageant
The Miss Universal Global Final will be taking place at the end of July and is a week-long multi-division international pageant which includes show rounds, interviews, and evening gown segments.
The care assistant, mua and life coach who now lives in Cork, was crowned the first runner-up in the competition last year.
Speaking on her excitement to fly off and compete against a plethora of other contestants from around the world she said: 'It has been an amazing experience to hold the Miss Ireland title for the past year, wearing the crown and banner with pride and honour. I'm truly so grateful to my director Suzi Hosfeld for giving me this opportunity to represent her system Miss Universal Global Pageant here in Ireland. It's a system of sisterhood and family and I can't wait to see all my Universal Global family and meet all the new members.'
During her time in the spotlight, Mary has used her platform to address serious and important issues, including cervical screening. During Cervical Screening Awareness Week, which took place between June 19-24 she participated in a campaign to promote awareness of cervical cancer which is the most common form of cancer in women between the ages of 30-50 in Ireland.
"Getting smears and being checked is so important. As a person that found out after having my last daughter in 2009 that I had abnormal cells, cancer was not really what I wanted to hear. But I kept going for my check ups and biopsies every few months and then finally in 2020 I found out everything is okay. So ladies book your cervical screening today, it could save your life,' she said.
The person with the highest votes in the competition will be awarded funding for charities of their choice. Her choices are the Endometriosis Association of Ireland and Cuanlee Refuge Cork which are two causes very close to her heart.
