Vijayawada: Minister for Mines & Geology Kollu Ravindra on Saturday said that Bandar port would start functioning from July 2026. He said the port would increase employment opportunities for local youth. Participating in the Machilipatnam Beach Festival on Saturday, the minister said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan had been taking steps to create employment opportunities for youth and accelerate economic growth in State. The minister said that the Masula Beach Festival was organised from 2014, but later the YSRCP government neglected the festival. The Minister said that a detailed project report (DPR) had been prepared for the development of tourism in Machilipatnam under the Centre's Swadeshi Darshan scheme. He said entrepreneurs were coming forward to develop resorts at Manginapudi beach. He said players from 29 States attended the national beach kabaddi championship in this year's festival. Plans are afoot to develop beaches in Srikakulam district, says Collector

The Srikakulam district administration has put special focus on tourism development, thanks to the availability of beaches in different parts of the district. The government has identified that beaches in places like Kalingapatnam, Ranasthalam, Baruva, Bhavanapadu , and Kaviti would be able to attract more tourists if more facilities are provided there. Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar directed the Srikakulam Tourism Officer N. Narayana Rao to prepare a project report on the opportunities to develop the existing beaches. He suggested that the historic Kalingapatnam beach could be developed under the Swadeshi Darshan scheme for which the government would allocate funds. 'We have been inviting entrepreneurs to develop the beaches with water sports and other facilities which can attract more tourists in near future. The administration will ensure quick processing of their applications,' Mr. Swapnil Dinakar told the media here. Eco-friendly tourism projects would be developed in forest areas also with the consent of the higher authorities of the Forest Department, he added.
