Chicago incubator Male Mogul Initiative acquires loan purveyor to make capital accessible for all

When former NFL player Walter Mendenhall founded the social enterprise Male Mogul Initiative in 2017, his goal was to positively transform the way young men live and lead in their communities and hopefully alter the trajectory of those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Male Mogul has since continued to make an impact and expand its footprint with new business opportunities to not only help young men establish themselves but also help others in the process. The agency has helped thousands of young people in Chicago with professional opportunities and personal growth through mentorship, leadership, entrepreneurship and workforce development programming. The latest expansion for Male Mogul is the acquisition of California-based financial technology company Helpwithmyloan, known for using AI to simplify and speed up the loan application process for small business owners as well as commercial and residential investments, Mendenhall said. The Chicago office of Helpwithmyloan, which is operating from Male Mogul's space at 29 E. Madison St., officially launched in February. Helpwithmyloan's two founding partners have stayed on and continue to support the new branch by providing job training for young men through Male Mogul's workforce development programming. Jeremiah Swint, 25, of Chicago, has been with Male Mogul since June 2024 and offers his expertise in financial literacy through teaching and workshops. He has had a keen interest in all things related to the stock market, trading and economics since he was a child, he said. Swint is now a loan officer for Helpwithmyloan and said his ability to build relationships and work with people, coupled with his financial savvy, helped him excel at this opportunity. 'I knew I wanted to take this role and be more involved,' Swint said. 'It's amazing being able to get financing to people in an innovative way, to be that first ear to hear them out and seek out people's visions and stories and how they want to mold the financing, and ultimately be able to get it to them.' He started training in January for the job and will continue to learn as he goes, he said. A lending platform is 'not a totally new invention,' but what sets Helpwithmyloan apart, Swint said, is that it's a platform that offers innovative guidance with financing. 'Helpwithmyloan is for everyone,' Swint said. 'It's for impact. It's for storytelling. It's for assistance. It's for collaboration.' Swint said he is 'excited for the success stories and the relationships that we're building and going to build.' 'Relationships are everything to me,' Swint said. 'Money is in relationships, it's not just in work. You have to work and build relationships and then the money comes with the people you impact as well.' Male Mogul acquired Helpwithmyloan in partnership with Chicago-based financial firm Loyd & Co., which is in charge of operations and the strategic vision for Helpwithmyloan. Male Mogul's role is to help build out the Chicago office of Helpwithmyloan. Male Mogul's workforce development programming aims to give young men from the South and West sides of Chicago job opportunities by training and mentoring them for specific roles. Mendenhall said most recently they have trained men in their 20s in loan brokering, client management, lender analysis and more with the help of Loyd & Co. and the founding partners of Helpwithmyloan. Mendenhall said there are about 10 people working for the local office, but the opportunities are 'limitless.' 'We know that there's always going to be the need for access to capital, so the job capabilities are endless and that's what excites us,' Mendenhall said. He said he hopes to employ over 50 young people over the next few years through Helpwithmyloan. 'We're helping young people find their purpose, helping them identify their gifts and skills and talents while also teaching financial literacy and wealth building,' Mendenhall said. With any merger and acquisition, there's a 'transition period,' said Mendenhall, a Chicago-area native and a former player for the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals who pivoted to entrepreneurship and nonprofit administration. 'There's a learning curve, and we've been experiencing that, but we have learned a lot and we have made pivots and gained a lot of experience in a very short amount of time,' Mendenhall said. Jarryd Loyd, managing partner of Loyd & Co., said he has known Mendenhall for about 20 years and started working with him through Male Mogul early on to help increase workforce development opportunities for Black and brown youth. He said that was done by figuring out the needs of the communities that Male Mogul serves, determining what skill sets are in demand and how to create jobs to meet those needs while employing young people. Loyd said Helpwithmyloan caught the company's attention because of its ability to provide access to capital efficiently to under-resourced groups not just in Chicago but around the country. The company already had over $850 million in loan deals. 'It's extremely hard for small businesses that don't have traditional collateral to get access to funds, specifically if you're from a disadvantaged demographic,' Loyd said. 'Helpwithmyloan has had a history of providing access to capital to small businesses and commercial real estate investors that usually get denied by banks, and so we saw it as an opportunity to provide additional resources to accelerate that access.' While the loan process traditionally takes from 60 to 90 days, Loyd said the team behind Helpwithmyloan tries to get it done within 10 to 20 days by using the company's technology to speed up the process, such as giving pre-approval and finding a lender. Many loan deals are already in the pipeline, he said, and the young people working to get those deals across the finish line are 'excited and earning and seeing the power of helping small business owners access capital,' Mendenhall said. Male Mogul is also working toward expanding to a 50,000-square-foot warehouse in Englewood to house the Helpwithmyloan office as well as other divisions of Male Mogul, Mendenhall said, while retaining the current space in the Loop. 'What started as an entrepreneurship program has really blossomed into changing young people's lives,' Mendenhall said. 'It's just truly amazing when you have good intentions, when you have a dream, when you want to solve a problem, a major problem, and what you are able to do when you stick with it and you think outside the box.' ‘Road to Pro' Campaign Shows How Rising College Stars Stay Game-Ready with sam(R)

The next generation of professional athletes relies on the sam® wearable ultrasound unit from ZetrOZ Systems to recover faster and stronger. TRUMBULL, CONNECTICUT / ACCESS Newswire / April 30, 2025 / ZetrOZ Systems, the inventor of the sustained acoustic medicine (sam®) device, announces a new partnership with the athlete branding platform Lnup to launch the "Road to Pro" campaign, a spotlight on the next generation of elite talent prioritizing recovery as they prepare for the professional level. "Road to Pro" features a group of elite college football players, all using sam® to stay game-ready. The campaign reflects a growing belief in sports that staying healthy is a skill, and how athletes are prioritizing proactive recovery with innovations like the sam® 2.0 and sam® x1 wearable ultrasound unit lines. Sustained acoustic medicine is a long duration, continuous, multi-hour, high frequency ultrasound treatment that has been proven effective in soft tissue healing in 20 Level 1-5 clinical studies. ZetrOZ Systems' sam® device is the only long-duration ultrasound treatment with clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for home use. Mitch Jeter, kicker for University of Notre Dame, explains that sam® is "an ultrasound technology that focuses on pain relief, improved function and accelerated recovery. You can use it as an athlete or a non-athlete to help you get ready for your next workout session. They've helped me out a ton." Kevin Swint, outside linebacker at Georgia State University, said sam® helps him significantly with post-workout recovery. "The improvements I've seen from using this two to three times a day on my quads, after lower body workouts and runs - it keeps me energized and ready to go for the next session." Both Jeter and Swint were recently invited to National Football League mini-camps, Jeter with the Minnesota Vikings and Swint with the Tennessee Titans. Other "Road to Pro" athletes are expected to receive invitations or participate in tryouts, a result of their commitment to improving their skills and maintaining their ability to play. "We're excited to work with Lnup and show these dedicated young people prioritizing active recovery in addition to their rigorous training programs," said George Lewis, a biomedical engineer and founder and CEO of ZetrOZ Systems. "These athletes aren't waiting until they go pro-they're investing in their bodies now, because the wear and tear on their bodies doesn't happen overnight. Our sam® technology helps them avoid surgeries that could sideline their career or opioid medications that come with significant side effects." Other athletes using sam® in the "Road to Pro" campaign include Sean Asbury, defensive back at Indiana State University, Slade Roy, punter for Louisiana State University; and Andreas Keaton, cornerback for Temple University. Asbury said sam® helps him return to workouts more quickly, and can benefit anyone. "You can use it if you're an athlete or not. This is good to get your body right, so you can get back in the gym. Just finished up recovering with sam® - my body feels amazing, and I'm ready to get back to work." ZetrOZ Systems and Lnup encourage audiences to follow these young athletes on their journey to professional athletics, highlighting their perseverance and work ethic. Caden Sullivan delivers, and Franklin finally can celebrate a Division 1 boys' basketball championship

Franklin senior captain Caden Sullivan is engulfed by Panthers classmates after Sunday's victory. Ken McGagh for The Boston Globe 'We've been through so much together,' said Sullivan. 'We lost classmates to a car crash and cancer, and it's just one way to do it for them, to do it for Anthony Gates, and Nick Gaspar.' Sullivan finished with a game-high 31 points, including two free throws with six seconds remaining to make it a 53-50 game. The third-seeded Tigers (24-2) were able to get off a last-second 3-pointer, and when it clanged off the back iron, tears of jubilation flowed from Franklin's senior leaders and a coaching staff which not only fell short in the D1 final last March, but also suffered consecutive setbacks in the 2017 and 2018 state title games. 'It all starts at the top with Caden. He builds up everyone's competitive level. What an unbelievable leader he's been.' Jake Olmstead (11 points) spearheaded another excellent defensive effort from the Panthers by guarding Swint (24 points) throughout most of the contest. After yielding an early 8 points, Olmstead helped hold Swint scoreless until late in the second half, when he erupted for 16 points, including the final 11 for the Tigers. Newton North star Teagan Swint looks for an opening past Jake Olmstead and the Franklin defense during Sunday's Division 1 state final. Ken McGagh for The Boston Globe 'They did a good job taking [Swint] out of the game the way that they defend,' said North coach Paul Connolly, 'So we did the best we could.' Swint's steal and dunk cut the Franklin lead to 50-48 with 28.1 seconds remaining, but the Panthers knew exactly where to go with the ball when they huddled up during the ensuing timeout. Advertisement 'I wanted that ball in my hands no matter what,' said Sullivan. 'My teammates and coach Neely trusted me, and I knew that [the Tigers couldn't] guard me. I just had the confidence to get downhill and do it for the community and my teammates.' The Panthers (26-1) graduated three all-league players after falling to a powerhouse Worcester North squad in last year's final, and Neely admitted that he thought another title run would be a longshot coming into this season. But by riding a stellar defense and an elite scorer, the Panthers managed to navigate a tough bracket to bring home the trophy. 'It's bigger than basketball,' Neely said about the community support behind his program. 'We always say that being part of something bigger than yourself is the key to high school sports, and I'm just really proud we were able to establish that this year.' In a battle of EMass heavyweights, Caden Sullivan (right) and Franklin got just enough ahead of Teagan Swint (22) and Newton North Sunday.
