Head along to the Lughnasadh Music and Art Festival
Head to Forgan Arts Centre for an afternoon and evening of live music and family friendly art activities in the centre's lush grounds. Following the success of last year's festival, Lughnasadh returns with an even bigger line-up featuring Scottish Album of the Year Award winners Kathryn Joseph and Sacred Paws; Mercury Prize nominee BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year Becky Sikasa and many others. Artist Sian Davey and her son Luke spent three years transforming her garden into an immersive wildflower haven during which time their garden wall became a community space for shared stories. Inviting others in, they managed to capture moments of reflection, love and connection which lead to the birth of The Garden - a place for heartbreak, joy and everything in between. This summer Coburg House [[Art]] Studios marks a major milestone - 20 years since it opened its doors to the public for its renowned biannual Open Studios events. Coburg House is home to over 70 artists, designers and makers and across its four floors of working studios, visitors can discover a thriving hub of creativity that has become one of Scotland's leading artist collectives. Taking over the upper and lower galleries in the Royal Scottish Academy building for the summer is Andy Goldsworthy's Fifty Years exhibition. There's over 200 works such as photographs, sculptures and expansive installations as well as several major new works that have been created onsite specifically for this exhibition. Featuring work from three Edinburgh-based artists, this exhibition explores the natural, mystical and dark aspects of the world around us. Dani's work explores the relationships animals have with their natural environment while Dee's work imagines creatures tasked with curating natural spaces and keeping their inhabitants happy and healthy. Victoria Morton – Switch Track (Image: Victoria Morton) The period between 1995 to 2025 represents 30 years of painting since artist Victoria Morton graduated from The Glasgow School of Art, with this exhibition featuring a selection of works from that spell. It carefully draws upon sketchbook materials, paintings and mixed media works from different points in time. There's painting, sculptural assemblages, photography and sound work which covers the variety of Morton's practice. Shifting Surfaces 28 July-11 October. Entry free. Immerse yourself in the inspirations and collaborations between Victoria Crowe and Dovecot Studios and mark a major milestone in the career of one of Scotland's most distinguished contemporary artists. New for 2025, this exhibition is a private collection of rarely seen artworks and personal belongings of prominent Victorian artist John Everett Millais and his Perth-born wife Euphemia 'Effie' Chalmers Gray. As part of a long-term loan from the artist's great grandson, this display explores the profound connections between Millais and Perthshire, a landscape that inspired several of his most celebrated works. Discover textile artwork from 70 female artists who aim to use their craft to challenge, disturb and disrupt. Running throughout the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the exhibition explores the concept of the witch as female divinity, female ferocity and female transgression. Eden 26 July-11 August. Entry free. Rooted in the language of nature, Michelle Campbell's work uses the natural world as a source and platform to navigate and express her own experience of the world. The exhibition charts the meeting points between mind and matter, feeling and form, chaos and clarity and invites viewers to enter not only into the natural imagery but into a way of seeing, and sensing that is fluid, raw and vivid.

Discover a selection of 19th-21st century British paintings, drawings and sculpture including works by modern British and Scottish Masters, Scottish Colourists and many others. Pam Isherwood, Stop Clause 28 March, Whitehall, London, 9 January 1988 (Image: Bishopsgate Institute) Conceived by acclaimed artist and filmmaker Steven McQueen, Resistance explores how acts of resistance have shaped life in the UK, and the powerful role of photography in documenting and driving change. The exhibition brings together works from renowned photographers as well as lesser-known photographers who have also documented these powerful stories. Clay AD: everything is borrowed 21-28 June. Entry free. Centre for Contemporary Arts, 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3JD. Artist Clay AD has put together a solo exhibition featuring a new sculpture installation as well as a five channel sound piece in collaboration with artist Hang Linton. According to the artist, the work is a prayer on grief, faith and the magic of rot and rather than rejecting spiritual systems outright, it asks what can be reimagined or salvaged from their remains. Acclaimed artist and filmmaker Margaret Salmon has put together an exhibition of new work at The Hunterian that has resulted from a process of community outreach, story counselling and cinematic experimentation. Discover film, photographs and sculptures in an installation that expands over time, inviting local audiences to return to the Hunterian's galleries as materials shift and evolve. At a time when questions about climate change are both critical and contested, this exhibition explores the environmental and social significance of water. Aubrey Levinthal - Mirror Matter (Image: Aubrey Levinthal) Discover the first major UK exhibition from Philadelphia-based painter Aubrey Levinthal. Her works capture passing moments in the lives of a cast of characters in downtown Philadelphia and combine intimacy and openness that owes something to the likes of Bonnard, Vuillard, Matisse and Milton Avery. Her first exhibition in the UK, it's also accompanied by a 232 page monograph that considers her work over the past decade. Monsters of the Deep: Science Fact or Fiction 21 June-26 October. Take a journey through the mysteries of the ocean and explore the deep sea with ancient and modern stories of strange creatures, sort of the fact from the fiction and learn about what really lurks beneath the waves and understand why tales of monsters persist. From a terrifying Feegee mermaid to the spindly legs of a giant Japanese spider crabs, there are lots of strange and wonderful things to see in this exhibition. Discover the beauty of Glasgow's at-risk historic buildings through the lens of Queens Park Camera Club. The first exhibition at Mugdock's Campsie Gallery is a photographic exploration by Alan McBridge of the popular destination's natural and built structures. The exhibition marks the opening of the Campsie Gallery in Mugdock which aims to enrich the cultural experiences available at the park.
