The brother of a pony handler, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, welcomed the reports of the death of the attack's mastermind in an army encounter on Monday.
Syed Adil Hussain Shah, 30, was one of the 26 victims of the deadly terror attack on April 22. His brother, Syed Naushad Shah, told News18 that the news of the deaths of three terrorists killed in Dachigam near Srinagar was akin to justice.
'We are thankful to our government…I also got to know that they were behind the Pahalgam attack. We are proud of our armed forces…this is justice for the families of the victims," Naushad told CNN-News18.
He added: 'We have got justice, we are happy. They should be finished, who kill innocent people."
Adil was the sole breadwinner of his family, and left behind a wife and two children. He earned a livelihood, like many others in that area, from offering horse rides to tourists. He died while attempting to protect tourists during the attack.
The army's 'Operation Mahadev' took place in the general area of Lidwas, the Chinar Corps said. 'OP MAHADEV – Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress" it said in a post on X. The operation is still in progress, police sources said, adding that they are yet to confirm the identities of all three slain terrorists.
