Women's Futsal AFCON: Guinea and Egypt Exit the Tournament
Egypt and Guinea delivered a great performance on Saturday, 26 April at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex but ultimately to no avail. The two sides played out to a thrilling 3–3 draw on Match Day 3 of Group B at the Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, a result that confirmed their elimination from the competition. Knowing that qualification was still mathematically possible with a win combined with an unlikely set of other results, both teams started the match at full throttle. Egypt struck first, taking advantage of a Guinea defence that was still disorganised. But the Syli Féminin, showing great determination, quickly drew level, reigniting the intensity of the contest. The match then turned into a gripping end-to-end battle, with every attack looking capable of changing the outcome. Egypt, showing greater technical polish, regained the lead with a well-worked team move. Yet Guinea, true to their fighting spirit, managed to equalise again — and even briefly took the lead early in the second half. It was a dramatic turnaround that kept the small crowd in the stands on the edge of their seats. Ultimately, it was the Pharaohs who had the final say, grabbing a late equaliser in the dying minutes of an exciting match. Despite sharing the points, the result was not enough for either side to claim a spot in the semifinals. Angola, dominant throughout Group B, finished top and secured their place in the final four. Already qualified as well, Morocco topped Group A, fuelled by strong home support and a disciplined, cohesive team. Under the tournament's rules, only the winners of each of the three groups are guaranteed a semifinal spot, with the fourth ticket reserved for the best runner-up an arrangement that intensified the battle among the contenders. The Women's Futsal AFCON carries historic importance: it offers the two finalists' qualification for the inaugural FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup, set to take place in the Philippines from 27 November to 7 December. For Egypt and Guinea, their Moroccan campaign ends on a bittersweet note. Both teams showed flashes of quality and fighting spirit but lacked the consistency and efficiency needed to join the continent's elite. A sense of unfinished business that should fuel their future growth.

Women's Futsal AFCON / Group B: Angola More Clinical Than Guinea
The opening match of the inaugural Women's Futsal Africa Cup of Nations saw Angola come out top with an impressive 5-2 victory over Guinea in Rabat, Morocco. Right from kick-off, both sides made their intentions clear. Angola's high press caught Guinea's still-settling defence off guard, and it took just seconds for Joyce to break the deadlock (1st minute), capping off a blistering start. But the Syli Féminin quickly responded in the 6th minute, as Soumah capitalised on a lightning-quick counterattack to level the score (1–1). Angola Take Control The rest of the first half swung in favour of the Palancas Negras. In the 12th minute, Lurdinha restored Angola's lead with a pinpoint free kick. Just two minutes later, mounting pressure saw Guinea falter again as Bangoura unintentionally turned the ball into her own net (14th minute, 3–1). The momentum was fully with Angola, and Guinea struggled to respond effectively. After the break, Mame Fatoumata Baldé's team adjusted their positioning and tightened their defence. Their efforts paid off when Bangoura, making up for her earlier mishap, scored to reduce the deficit (3–2). Hope was reignited for the Syli Féminin, but the closing minutes once again belonged to Angola. Joyce netted her second of the match in the 37th minute, and Djamila sealed the win just a minute later (38th minute, 5–2). With this convincing victory, Angola temporarily tops the group after the opening day of the competition. Their next fixture is on Thursday against Egypt, a match that could confirm their place in the next round. Guinea, on the other hand, will have to beat the Pharaohs on 26 April to keep their hopes alive in this tightly contested group.
