Suspect in murder of glamorous college student receives BRUTAL street justice

A suspect wanted for the gruesome murder of a missing graduate school student in Brazil was found tortured to death. The body of Esteliano Madureira, 43, had more than 10 stab wounds and was wrapped in a tarp in the southeastern city of São Paulo on Wednesday. São Paulo Public Security Secretariat said in a statement he may have been killed at a different location before being dumped on the west side of the city. The discovery came just hours after police obtained an warrant for his arrest in connection to the murder of University of São Paulo student Bruna da Silva, 28. Da Silva, a mother of one, disappeared somewhere between the train station and her home – a little over half a mile from the parking lot where her body was found April 17. Surveillance camera footage showed a man thought to be Madureira following da Silva near a train station on April 13. The chilling video shows the man stalking da Silva before she swings around to confront the shadowy figure. A struggle ensues before the pair disappear out of the frame behind a wall. Da Silva had earlier visited her boyfriend who advised her to use a ride-share app on her way home. But Despite his urging, da Silva decided to walk. Da Silva had a fractured vertebrae in her neck and burn marks, authorities with knowledge of the investigation told Brazilian news outlet G1. A plastic bag was found near her body, which they believe the killer may have used to strangled da Silva, who died from asphyxiation. An autopsy, which will show da Silva's cause of death, is pending. 'We believe in the hypothesis that she suffered sexual violence, but it depends on the conclusion of expert reports,' said São Paulo State Department of Homicide and Personal Protection chief Rogério Thomaz said. Investigators said they found a set of panties when searching the home of Madureira. 'He was a habitual drug user and lived in that region,' Department of Homicide and Personal Protection Alexandre Menichini said in a press conference Thursday. Records show Madureira was arrested in 2018, but that he was later acquitted. Da Silva graduated with a history degree from the University of São Paulo. She also obtained her master's degree in social history from the same school and recently learned that she had been accepted in the master's program for social change and political participation. 'My daughter always fought for feminism,' Simone da Silva said. 'She was very against violence against women. She studied this and died exactly as she feared most and as I feared most. And then I ask: Why wasn't it me? The pain would have been much less.'
