Helpline launched for dairy farmers

Dairy Development Minister T. Mano Thangaraj on Wednesday said Aavin was aiming to serve consumers while providing a steady income to dairy farmers. It procures 36.50 lakh litres a day from 3.8 lakh farmers and sells 30.02 lakh litres of milk a day. We will take strict action against those indulging in malpractices,' he added. He launched a toll-free helpline for dairy farmers in the State — 1800-425-2577. Those in need of help from veterinarians can call this number, which is being manned by IndusInd Bank Limited (IBL) and Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited (BFIL) — a wholly owned subsidiary of IBL — under the Bharat Sanjeevani programme of BFIL. Animal Husbandry Secretary N. Subbian and Aavin Managing Director A. Annathurai were present on the occasion.
