Guidance Tamil Nadu sets up desk in Vietnam: Industries Minister
State Industries Minister, T.R.B. Rajaa on Monday said Guidance Tamil Nadu, the nodal agency for investment promotion, had set iup a desk in Vietnam. This desk will connect with the Vietnamese industry and promote the capabilities of Tamil Nadu. Soon, we will establish such desks in many other countries, he said in a post on X. Mr. Rajaa was in Hanoi in the country as a part of Tamil Nadu's roadshow.

Minister for Industries launches bone marrow transplant unit at Apollo Cancer Centre
The Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC) has launched a bone marrow transplant (BMT) unit for holistic cancer care. Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, T.R.B. Rajaa inaugurated the BMT unit on the occasion of World Thalassemia Day. He said APCC has set world class standards higher for cancer care by putting the State and the country on the world map through medical tourism. He wanted Apollo Hospitals to leverage the reputed brand by entering into the manufacturing of healthcare equipment, as only through local manufacturing would the healthcare be made more affordable for common people. Apollo Hospital's Director Group Oncology, Harshad Reddy said the MBT unit would provide cutting-edge radiation therapies through total marrow and lymphoid irradiation to cancer patients. Apollo Hospitals Director of Medical Oncology, Hematology and BMT Dr. Jose M. Easow and Dinesh Madhavan, president of Group Oncology also spoke on the occasion.

U.S.-based Workday to establish Global Capability Centre in Chennai: Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa
Minister for Industries T.R.B. Rajaa on Monday (April 28, 2025) said Guidance Tamil Nadu, the State government's investment promotion agency, has signed a memorandum of understanding with United States-based Workday, which will establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai with an investment of around ₹220 crore, creating up to 3,000 jobs. Workday is a world-renowned provider of enterprise cloud. Workday's decision to set up their GCC in Chennai is yet another illustration of Tamil Nadu's leadership as a global hub for digital innovation, Mr. Rajaa said in a post on X. The company's Chennai facility will be a strategic hub for product and technology development supporting Workday's global operations, focusing on next-generation AI technologies, he added.

Tamil Nadu govt. to establish a dedicated industrial park for Taiwanese firms near Chennai, says Minister
Minister for Industries T.R.B. Rajaa announced in the Assembly on Friday that a dedicated industrial park for Taiwanese companies, a key contributor to foreign direct investment in Tamil Nadu, will be established Chennai to attract investment worth ₹10,000 crore and create jobs for 20,000 people. Speaking during the demand for grants for the Industries Department, he said the government would etablish guidance desks in the U.S., Germany, South Korea, and Vietnam. A Mini-TIDEL Park will be established in the industrially backward Nagapattinam district to provide jobs to 600 people, he said. In the Chinnasalem taluk of Kallakurichi district, a SIPCOT Industrial Park will be developed to attract ₹650 crore in investment and generate 9,000 jobs. Similarly, the government will establish a SIPCOT Industrial Park in Sankarankoil taluk of Tenkasi district at a cost of ₹300 crore to generate jobs for 3,000 people; in the Karaikudi taluk of Sivaganga district at a cost of ₹200 crore to generate 2,000 jobs; and in Vellore district at a cost of ₹500 crore to generate employment for 5,000 people, the Minister said. To transform Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, and Thoothukudi districts into textile and apparel manufacturing hubs, SIPCOT Tex Parks will be established in collaboration with textile industry associations. A 22.7-MLD (million litres a day) Tertiary Treated Reverse Osmosis water supply project, costing ₹380 crore, will be implemented at the Kodungaiyur Water Treatment Plant for use by factories at Gummidipoondi, Manallur, and Thervoy-Kandigai SIPCOT in Tiruvallur district, he said. For the accommodation of the industrial workers in the Pillaipakkam, Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal Industrial Estates in Kancheepuram district, housing will be created for 2,000 workers at a cost of ₹120 crore, Mr. Rajaa said. He said that given the need for modern storage facilities for accelerating the economic development of the State, a Tamil Nadu Warehousing Policy would be released to encourage the establishment of new warehouses. He also announced that a Marine Food Processing Industrial Policy would be released for promoting investments in the sea food processing sector and improving the livelihood of fishermen. To improve the livelihood of fishermen in and around Thanjavur district, a Marine-Food Processing and Export Park would be established at Rajamadam to attract investment worth ₹ 200 crore and generate direct and indirect employment for 2,000 people, he added.
