ARAVINTHAN A DREAM to make 'flying taxis' available to the general public has led a Malaysian entrepreneur to venture into the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) industry in China. Sin Chew Daily reported the inspiring story of Ng Yon Wui, whose company showcased its E20 eVTOL aircraft at the recent World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2025 in Shanghai. The RM4.7mil low-altitude aircraft by Shanghai TCab Tech­nology Co Ltd was the only original equipment manufacturer eVTOL aircraft on display. Ng, who is the company's founder and chief executive officer, said conventional helicopters are too costly to fly but thanks to his company's innovative technology, the 'flying helicopter taxi' only costs three to four yuan (RM1.70 to RM2.30) per kilometre to said instead of turning the helicopter into an unmanned aircraft that would require safety features and airspace management, his company used a more futuristic development method by integrating new energy vehicles with autonomous TCab Technology Co Ltd was established in 2021 and produced its first E20 eVTOL aircraft for flight test after two years.
