Business and Human Rights: TDAP participates in seminar on NAP implementation
PESHAWAR: The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Peshawar office, actively participated in a high-level seminar organised by the Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Pakistan, on the Implementation of Pakistan's National Action Plan (NAP) on Business and Human Rights. The event was held at a local hotel in Peshawar, and brought together a wide range of stakeholders to deliberate on the integration of human rights principles into business practices. TDAP Peshawar made two comprehensive presentations highlighting the role of the Authority in promoting responsible business conduct, ethical trade practices, and inclusive economic development across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in underserved regions. The presentations underscored TDAP's initiatives to support women entrepreneurs, ensure capacity building of exporters in human rights compliance, and enhance linkages between trade and sustainable development. The presentations received wide appreciation from participants, which included representatives from the Provincial Government departments, trade bodies, academia, legal professionals, NGOs, and a significant number of women entrepreneurs. TDAP reaffirmed its commitment to aligning its trade promotion activities with Pakistan's international human rights obligations and contributing to the effective implementation of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights. The Authority looks forward to continued collaboration with the Ministry of Human Rights and other stakeholders in fostering ethical, inclusive, and sustainable trade. Webinar titled ‘Pak-Indonesia trade potential in tobacco sector' held
JAKARTA: The Agro & Food Division, in collaboration with the Trade Mission of Pakistan in the Indonesia, organized an online webinar on 'Pakistan-Indonesia trade potential in the tobacco sector' to explore trade opportunities in the tobacco sector of Pakistan. The session was jointly led by Ayaz Muhammad (PO, DD TDAP) and Muhammad Naseem Rashid (Minister Trade and Investment, Pakistan Mission Indonesia). The webinar brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from various Pakistani tobacco exporter companies including Amna Arbab, Assistant Director (Export) from the Pakistan Tobacco Board. The session focused on enhancing bilateral trade ties, showcasing Pakistan's high-quality tobacco products, and addressing trade barriers to improve market access in Indonesia. Participants engaged in discussions on market dynamics, potential collaborations, and the regulatory frameworks governing tobacco trade in both countries. The webinar also emphasized the Indonesia's role as a regional trading hub and Pakistan's capacity to meet growing market demand through its well-established tobacco cultivation and manufacturing expertise. Empowering women entrepreneurs in Pakistan: TDAP organises workshop on market analysis tools in Sialkot
SIALKOT: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Women Entrepreneur Division, in collaboration with Sialkot Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, successfully organized a hands-on training workshop on 'Market Analysis Tools – Trade Map' on 22nd May 2025 in Sialkot. This initiative aimed to strengthen the export potential of women entrepreneurs by equipping them with practical skills to analyze international markets using the International Trade Centre's (ITC) Trade Map, which is a widely used resource for market intelligence, competitor benchmarking, and export planning. The session was conducted by Mahina Ghalib, Deputy Director, TDAP, and featured an in-depth exploration of HS Codes and Trade Map functionalities, followed by practical training to help participants identify export destinations, track global trade flows, and assess market demand. Participants were also provided with manuals and resources to deepen their understanding of the platform beyond the session. Around 30 entrepreneurs took part in the training, engaging actively in discussions and exercises. The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged questions and personalized feedback, ensuring participants walked away with relevant and applicable knowledge. This workshop is part of TDAP's ongoing, targeted capacity-building series for women entrepreneurs. Following the successful trainings in Faisalabad and Sialkot, the next session in this series is scheduled to be held in Lahore. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

TDAP-SWCCI workshop aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs
LAHORE: In an effort to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem for women in Sialkot, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Women Entrepreneur Division, in collaboration with the Sialkot Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SWCCI), successfully organised a capacity-building workshop titled 'Investment Readiness Program' in Sialkot. The initiative was designed to support women-led startups and small to medium enterprises (SMEs) by equipping them with the strategic tools needed to attract investment and scale their ventures confidently. The workshop drew an enthusiastic group of approximately 30 women entrepreneurs who engaged in the interactive learning experience. It was led by Saad Ashraf Raja, Founder of Edlytica, who covered a comprehensive range of topics essential to early-stage business development. Key modules included strategic planning using the Business Model Canvas, financial literacy, investor engagement, and preparing investor-ready documentation such as data rooms. Saad Ashraf also introduced participants to various financing options, from traditional bank lending to angel investment and venture capital.
