Union Health patient information compromised after cybersecurity attack
TERRE HAUTE – Patients of Union Health recently received a letter informing them of a security incident at their electronic records vendor. According to the letter, the files involved may include 'your name and one or more of the following: Social Security number, driver's license number, date of birth, treating physician, dates of service, medication information, insurance information and treatment and/or diagnostic information.' The letter explains that on February 24, 2025, an 'unknown party contacted Union Health claim they had some patient information in their possession.' Union Health verified the information and immediately began an investigation and notified law enforcement. The vendor, Oracle Health Cerner, informed Union Health on March 15, 2025, of the cybersecurity event involving unauthorized access. Union Health is offering those receiving the letter a complimentary 12-month membership of Experian's Identity Works Credit 3B. Instructions on signing up for that is included in the letter. According to a Union Health representative, 'Due to developments in the vendor's ongoing investigation, we cannot comment at this time.'
