The 1% Club viewers in awe as ‘genius' footballer wins £100k for charity – but would you have got final question right?

THE 1% Club viewers were left in awe as a 'genius' footballer bagged an incredible £100,000 for charity. Lee Mack presented a Soccer Aid special of the popular ITV quiz show. 4 4 4 A star-studded lineup including Jill Scott, Iain Stirling, Paddy McGuinness and Tommy Fury played on behalf of UNICEF. In the end, former footballer Clarke Carlisle and comedian Lloyd Griffith reached the final round. Lee asked the pair: "In the opening verse to the original version of Three Lions, what TWO words feature exactly three times in the lyrics?" The lyrics were shown on screen as a reference as they tried to figure out the answer in 30 seconds. When it came time to answer, Lloyd, 41, admitted he'd misread the question. Meanwhile, Clarke, 45, offered up "it" and "know" as his answer to the puzzle. It was soon revealed that Clarke was correct - and had bagged a whopping £100,000 for UNICEF. Fans took to X and sang the star's praises, with one penning: "Clarke Carlisle you Brainiac!! Well done!" Another shared: "Absolutely delighted for Clarke! Always had a brilliant brain - but came close to losing him!" A third chimed in: "Clarke Carlisle is a genius!!" The 1% Club's tricky alphabet question knocks out a whopping 18 players – but would you have been one of them?

THE 1% Club's questions once again proved to be too much for most after one query wiped out almost a fifth of the studio. During one particularly savage round, 18 hopefuls were sent home when they failed to spot the correct sequences of letters. Did you manage to get it right? 5 5 5 5 The jaw-dropping moment unfolded in series two, episode five of the hit ITV quiz show, where host Lee Mack watched in disbelief as a simple-sounding question exposed just how tricky the game can be. Players were shown four words and asked to spot the one that does not contain three consecutive letters from the alphabet. The options were, Unopenable, Understandable, Unquestionable, and Undefineable. It might look easy on the surface, but spotting sequences like 'DEF' or 'RST' hidden in the words proved harder than expected. Players had just 30 seconds to examine the words and pick out the correct answer. The answer turned out to be C, 'Unquestionable'. ' Unopenable' contains 'NOP', 'Undefineable' includes 'DEF', and 'Understandable' also hides 'RST'. That left as the only one without a consecutive alphabetical trio, making it the right answer. Eighteen contestants failed to spot it, knocking them out of the game in one fell swoop. The shock exit had jaws dropping in the studio. Host Lee Mack kept his cool, but couldn't hide his surprise as players who had breezed through earlier rounds were taken out by the sneaky wording. The question came late in the game, reserved for the sharpest minds — but it still managed to trip up even the most confident contestants. Previously, a whopping 20 players were wiped out in a brutally challenging picture question. The result of the 30% question changed the face of the game, shedding half of the remaining current players. Lee read aloud to the group: "How many RIGHT FOOTPRINTS can you see in the sand." An image was then displayed showcasing an assortment of footprints in the sand. Players were then given 30 seconds to differentiate between the right and left feet. The image then turned the eight right feet green in order to correctly display which of the options the players should have been looking at. 5

The 1% Club knocks out 10 players with ‘easy' question – but would YOU have got it in 30 seconds?

THE 1% Club wiped out 10 players with an 'easy' question leaving host Lee Mack shocked. It was a rare occurrence on the ITV programme as the 90% question - regarded as the most simple - knocked the 10 players out in the first round. 4 4 It seemed that 30 seconds on the clock was not enough for those to logically work out the correct answer. Lee read out the 'easy' question to the players, saying: "Logically, which of these children's characters could be included in this sequence?" He then read the sequence which consisted of "Humpty Dumpty, Tinky Winky, Andy Pandy." The 100 audience members were then presented with two options - Postman Pat or Incy Wincy. But whilst the pattern may seem obvious, for 10 of them, they were none the wiser. With ten players wiped out, it was up to Lee to reveal the correct answer. He told the contestants that Incy Wincy would be the only plausible answer as a result of it continuing the rhyming scheme pattern. Contestant Sharon Swift got the question wrong and told Lee just exactly how the gamr crumbled so quickly for her. She said to the host: "I put Incy Wincy as he is a spider and the rest are all sort of people." Laughter rang out among her fellow players, with Lee then quipping: "Hang on, the rest of them are real people? "Apart from the fact, none of them are real people - I don't think any of them are humans in fact!" Hardest Quiz Show Questions Would you know the answers to some of quizzing TV's hardest questions Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Earlier this year, fans were left outraged after what they described as the "worst" question in the show's history. Host Jeremy Clarkson asked: 'From the 2000 awards ceremony onwards, the Best Actress Oscar has never been won by a woman whose surname begins with which one of these letters?' The multiple choice answers were between G, K, M and W. In the end, and with the £32,000 safe, player Glen had to make a guess and went for G. It turned out to be correct as Nicole Kidman, Frances McDormand and Kate Winslet are among the stars who have won the Best Actress gong since 2000. The 1% Club - Viewers of Lee Mack's popular ITV show were left dumbfounded by a question that also left the players perplexed. The query went as follows: "Edna's birthday is on the 6th of April and Jen's birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir's birthday must be the 'X' of January." It turns out the conundrum links the numbers with its position in the sentence, so 6th is the sixth word and 15th is the fifteenth word. Therefore, Amir's birthday is January 24th, corresponding to the 24th word in the sentence. The Chase - The ITV daytime favourite left fans scratching their heads when it threw up one of the most bizarre questions to ever grace the programme. One of the questions asked the player: "Someone with a nightshade intolerance should avoid eating what?" The options were - sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots - with Steve selecting sweetcorn but the correct answer was potatoes. 4 4
