‘The Bold And The Beautiful': Fascinating Factoids About The Just Renewed CBS Daytime Drama

CBS has announced a three-season renewal for the veteran daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful, which will bring the show through its 41st season. Per the official logline, 'The Bold and the Beautiful follows the entangled lives, passionate loves and high-stakes dramas of the Forrester, Logan and Spencer families, set against the backdrop of the glamorous Los Angeles fashion world and the family's fashion house, Forrester Creations."
The Bold and the Beautiful debuted on March 23, 1987.
In honor of this daytime mainstay, here are seven fun factoids about The Bold and the Beautiful you may not know:
1) When The Bold and the Beautiful premiered in 1987 there were 11 network daytime dramas on the air. At present, and including recent CBS entry Beyond the Gates, there are only four. The other two are General Hospital on ABC and The Young and the Restless on CBS. Days of Our Lives, formerly on NBC, now streams exclusively on Peacock.
The other daytime dramas back in 1987 were Ryan's Hope, Loving, All My Children and One Life to Live on ABC; As the World Turns and Guiding Light on CBS; and Another World and Santa Barbara on NBC.
2) The original working title for The Bold and the Beautiful was Rags.

3) The Bold and the Beautiful replaced the former soap opera Capitol on CBS, which aired from 1982 to 1987.
4) John McCook and Katherine Kelly Lang are the only original cast members still in the show. Talk about job security!

5) The legendary Betty White appeared as Ann Douglas, Stephanie Forrester's (Susan Flannery) long-lost mother, in 23 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful from 2006 to 2009.

6) Two other classic stars guest starring on The Bold and the Beautiful was The Price is Right host Bob Barker and Gilligan's Island star Dawn Wells. Barker appeared in three episodes, reenacting his famous fistfight from the 1996 movie Happy Gilmore. And Dawn Wells played Alice, a member of the Forrester family, in one episode.

7) Patrick Duffy, post Dallas, had the recurring role of Stephen Logan in The Bold and the Beautiful from 2006 to 2011, with more recent appearances in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Susan Flannery, who clocked in over 3,900 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful from 1987 to 2018, appeared on Dallas as the conniving Leslie Stewart in 11 episodes in 1981.
