Brentford to sign Michael Kayode permanently from Fiorentina

As per TMW and Fabrizio Romano, Brentford have activated the €17.5m clause to bring Michael Kayode permanently to the club from Fiorentina. The Bees had brought Kayode to England in January and although he took some time to get settled in, he has now hit form. This was particularly noticeable during their recent game against Manchester United where the defender won Man of the Match. With right-backs being in heavy demand with the the summer transfer window being open, it is a coup of Brentford's behalf to have secured him for this cheap. The 20 year old Italian is solid both in defense and attack and it is genuinely surprising that Fiorentina failed to get a bigger fee for the player. Brentford's success in the Premier League has been built upon their astute transfer business and Kayode is just the latest proof of that. It won't be surprising if they sell him to a bigger club for a sizeable profit within a year or two. Kayode's agent Andrea Ritorni also stated that the player is very happy to play in the Premier League and is beginning to get along well with manager Thomas Frank and other teammates. Man United keen on Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Napoli's midfield general Stanislav Lobotka as Ruben Amorim looks for reinforcements in the middle of the park. According to reports in Italy, United have joined Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain in pursuit of the Slovakian, who wears the number 68 shirt for Antonio Conte's side. Advertisement TMW write that Lobotka 'could leave in the summer' as it is Napoli's last chance to make some real money from the player, who turns 31 at the end of November. Barcelona have 'already made it known' that they are keen on him, and now PSG and United have also 'expressed their desire to sit down and talk about the situation.' For Napoli's part, there could be a willingness to sell in a bid to 'rejuvenate' their midfield and they may look for a replacement on lower wages than the €3.5m a year they currently pay the 30-year-old. TMW claim that the Partenopei currently value Lobotka at €40m but indicate that there is likely to be room for manoeuvre on this figure. Advertisement The news outlet write that he has been 'one of Napoli's best players in the last three seasons' and note that last season 'he was one of the few to survive a disastrous year' which saw the club move through three coaches in one campaign. The Naples club signed Scott McTominay from United last year and the Scot has reached new heights in Italy, rubbing salt in the wounds of his struggling former employers. TMW also quote the player himself who, speaking to Radio CRC, sounds happy with his current situation at Napoli. He said: 'Every day I work to help the team, I try to be a leader on the pitch. 'When we have the ball I try to give everyone a hand to win the game. We are a really good team, both on the pitch and especially off the pitch, this is very important to me.' Advertisement It's certainly the kind of mentality which would likely appeal to Amorim, but his quotes don't read like a player preparing to depart his club. United are sure to hand the Portuguese a new central midfielder this summer, with 33-year-old Christian Eriksen set to depart Old Trafford and question marks surrounding Casemiro despite his recent resurgence in form. Amorim needs all the help he can get from the United board as he looks to build a team capable of bouncing back to the top level after this historically bad season comes to an end. Atalanta's Ederson is another player under consideration, and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano yesterday confirmed that he is top of the club's wishlist to beef up their midfield. Per several Italian outlets via TMW, the 25-year-old delivered a 'gigantic' showing at the Allianz Arena. Advertisement Indeed, Alessandro Bastoni shrugged off a minor fitness problem to return to the starting line-up last night. Simone Inzaghi took his star defender off at halftime against Parma last weekend as a precautionary measure. Therefore, his availability for last evening's game in Germany was up in the air. However, Bastoni didn't let pain get the better of him. Alessandro Bastoni Outstanding in Inter Milan Win vs Bayern Munich Paired with Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard, Bastoni formed a rock-solid backline that kept Bayern's attacking threats at bay. Keeping pace with Michael Olise has proved impossible for most European defenders this season. Advertisement Yet, the former Atalanta man made it look easy. Furthermore, he often ventured forward, offering depth on the left flank while keeping his passes clean and precise. There was nothing more Inzaghi could've expected from his talismanic center-back in Munich.

Rrahmani clarifies claims about Napoli ‘pressure' on Kosovo

Amir Rrahmani clarifies that Napoli didn't pressure the Kosovo national team to rest him and insists he's 'always ready' for his club and country. Rrahmani had made headlines after Kosovo's 2-1 win over Iceland in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday as he appeared to suggest Napoli didn't want him to take part in the game. The Kosovo international had sustained a minor injury in Napoli's latest Serie A game against Venezia. 'I had a lot of doubts about whether to play or not because I left the last match four days ago, and I also had some pressure from the club not to play, but I decided to step onto the field, and it was worth it,' the defender told local media after the match last night, as quoted by TMW. The 31-year-old is a regular starter under Antonio Conte, having already accumulated over 2,600 minutes of football across all competitions at a club level. The Partenopei defender clarified his claims with an Instagram story on Friday, insisting that his words were misinterpreted. 'The word 'pressure' depends on how you say it and in which language,' he wrote. 'In Italian, it would mean worry. Worry, because four days ago, I left the field. After deciding together with the doctors from both sides, we agreed that I would play, and it was worth it because we won. Always ready for Napoli and Kosovo.' Rrahmani has scored one goal and provided two assists across all competitions this season. He's been a Napoli player since the summer of 2020 when he completed a €14m transfer from Hellas Verona.

Luca Marianucci's agent confirms talks with Napoli

The Serie A title race might well be hotly contested at the moment but that hasn't stopped teams from doing their transfer business. It has now been confirmed by his agent that Empoli's Luca Marianucci is in talks for a move to Napoli. Speaking at the Palermo Football Conference (via TMW), agent Mario Giuffredi, who represents Marianucci said, 'We have spoken to Naples, both us who represent the player and Empoli. The deal is practically done.'Marianucci has been among the breakout stars in Italy this season. The 20 year old defender has started 11 times this campaign and has garnered a lot of eyeballs with his performances. It has not all been surprising that Napoli have jumped in early to secure this signing. It is very openly known that both the Milan clubs were scouting the player Romano is reporting that the deal will cost Napoli €9m. However, there are some interesting aspects of this deal. Napoli's current options at the heart of defence include Amir Rrahmani, Juan Jesus, Alessandro Buongiorno and Rafa Marin. While it is difficult to state that this is really the cream of the crop, Napoli must let Marianucci develop at his own pace. Last season they signed a young defender in Marin but haven't really backed him like they should have. Kaulik Mitra l GIFN
