Tobin Heath and Christen Press are married
Tobin Heath and Christen Press have confirmed they are married.
The two former U.S. women's national team stars confirmed last year that they had been together since 2016, though they didn't officially go public with their relationship until much later.
It isn't clear when the pair actually tied the knot, with a representative confirming to that they are "happily married."
"They have never hidden their relationship and are very proud of each other," the representative added.
Heath announced her retirement from soccer on Thursday after dealing with persistent knee problems for years. Her last game came in 2022.
The 37-year-old enjoyed a decorated career, winning two Olympic gold medals and two World Cups while collecting 181 caps after making her debut in 2008.
Press, 36, is still playing with Angel City in the NWSL, having returned to the field last year after missing more than two years in the wake of a torn ACL.
The forward most recently played for the USWNT at the Olympics in 2021. Overall, Press has has made 155 appearances for the USWNT and is ninth all-time in program history with 64 goals scored.
On an episode of Peacock's "Watch with Alex Cooper" last summer, Press revealed that the pair had been together for eight years.
'Tobin and I were not really friends. We weren't really running in the same circles. And then as soon as I actually got to know her, there was just, like, a magnetism,' said Press. 'And I was like, that's what I want. And I never looked back. I still feel the exact same way.'
'The other day, someone just said to us, 'Oh, you guys, these guys just met, you look like you're in love,'' Press continued. 'And I'm like, 'No, it's been eight years.''
