A Luke Gaffney fly-out ends the game for the Tar Heels, who beat Clemson 14-4 for the program's ninth ACC tournament title. Olin Johnson gets the win for the Tar Heels, while B.J. Bailey is saddled with the loss for Clemson. A fielding error by Madera at shortstop allows Dillard to score from third. That's another run for the Tigers. Pinch-hitter Hideki Prather manages to drop a double into shallow centerfield to extend the inning, putting runners on second and third. UNC leaves a runner on in the bottom of the eighth and will head to the ninth inning with a commanding 14-3 lead and needing only three outs to claim the ACC title. Clemson's back at the top of the order but will have Jay Dillard, Josh Castellani and Ty Marshall pinch-hitting in the lineup. The Tigers get another run across the board to make it 14-3 Tar Heels. Paino scores off an RBI-single from Crighton, but Clemson can't muster another run after Wentworth and Ciufo both strike out looking to end the inning. Clemson leaves two runners on in scoring position. .@j_crighton5 plates a run for the Tigers. T8 || CU 3, UNC 14 ???? — Clemson Baseball (@ClemsonBaseball) May 25, 2025 UNC is making its third pitching change of the game. Cameron Padgett is coming on in place of Folger Boaz, who gets through 1/3 of an inning before Scott Forbes makes the call. Boaz previously replaced Johnson, who got 2 2/3 innings of work, allowing four hits and two runs. Though it likely will matter little by the end of the game, the Tar Heels left Gallaher stranded on third after Clemson gets Madera and Bass to strike out. UNC has a runner in scoring position after Gallaher walks. He advances to second on a wild pitch then advances to third on a groundout by Stokely. Clemson's Cam Cannarella helps Clemson avoid the ACC title game shutout with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh. One batter later, Van De Brake grounds out to shortstop but scores Bass from third. Both runs were unearned. Clemson gets out of the inning after a Stokely line-out but the damage is done. It's 14-0 UNC. In what has been a recurring theme in the ACC title game, Clemson is making another pitching change. Up next is Justin LeGuernic, who is 0-3 in 21 2/3 innings pitched this year on top of allowing a 9.14 ERA. Still no score for Clemson after six innings. The Tigers' latest opportunity ends after Jarrell grounds into a 6-4-3 double play. Another Clemson pitching change, the Tigers' third of the inning. Next up is Noah Samol, who is 0-1 in six prior appearances on the season. He has a 10.8 ERA in 6 2/3 innings pitched. Any chance Clemson had of a comeback in the ACC championship just left the field alongside Jackson Van De Brake's three-RBI home run. One batter after Kepley drove in Hargett with an RBI-single, Van De Brake smoked one over the wall in left field. It had a 109.15 mph exit velocity and traveled 408.87 feet, per the ESPN2 broadcast. ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???? Heels running absolute wild in the title game. The Tar Heels aren't letting up. Gallaher starts the inning with a double off the wall. Stokely advances to third off a play at first base, and then scores off an RBI-single from Madera. UNC leads 4-0 in the bottom of the third. Lynch retires the side for UNC. Up next for UNC: Gallaher, Hunter Stokely and Alex Madera in the 4-5-6 spots. Dvorsky immediately gives a sacrifice fly to Kepley, who scores Bass from third base after the tag-up. He then gives up a left-field single to Jackson Van De Brake, scoring French from second base. The Tigers are now moving to Nathan Dvorsky, who is 4-0 on the season with a 6.45 ERA. He has 22 1/3 innings pitched on the season and has allowed 18 hits. Bailey finishes his day with 1 1/3 innings pitched and is responsible for the bases being loaded. Rough outing to start the second inning for Clemson's B.J. Auburn baseball drops four spots in latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll After losing two of three to Ole Miss, Auburn drops to No. 10 The Auburn Tigers dropped four spots in the latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll, falling from No. 6 to No. 10 after losing two of three versus then-No. 25 Ole Miss on the road over the weekend. The Tigers entered the weekend tied for fourth place in the SEC and had an opportunity to get a double bye in the SEC Baseball Tournament. Ike Irish hit a home run in the fourth inning for his 16th of the season. The SEC featured eight more teams in the USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll. Auburn climbs in USA TODAY Coaches Poll after sweep of South Carolina Auburn continues to climb the ladder in the rankings after a dominant showing against South Carolina. The Auburn Tigers continue their climb up the USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll by moving up two spots from No. 8 to No. 6 in the latest rankings. The Tigers improved to 36-15 on the season after a weekend sweep of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Auburn outscored South Carolina 46-15 with two convincing victories in game one and three. They are now 16-11 in SEC play and are tied for fourth in the conference with Vanderbilt and Georgia. The new rankings featured nine teams from the SEC. LSU became the new No. 1, and Texas dropped to No. 3. Arkansas also dropped to fifth in the rankings. Other SEC teams included Georgia (No. 8), Vanderbilt (No. 9), Tennessee (No. 14), Alabama (No. 16), Florida (No. 21), and Ole Miss (No. 25). Auburn opened their series versus South Carolina with a 24-2 win in seven innings. While the offense picked up the attention, Cam Tilly had a good game, allowing just one run in five innings. He also had six strikeouts and allowed one hit for his third win of the season. The Auburn bats got going in the second inning with five runs after trailing 1-0. They would go on to score seven in the third, three in the fourth, and nine in the fifth. Five different Tigers had home runs in the game, and Chris Rembert led the way with three hits and six RBIs. The two teams would play a doubleheader on Saturday, with the Tigers winning 11-10 and 11-3. With the game tied at 10-10, Bub Terrell scored the game-winning run from a bunt by Eric Guevara. Game two was a big day for Guevara. He had four hits in the game with three RBIs and hit a home run in the first to put Auburn up 2-0. Guevara continued the excellent play in game three with four more hits and two runs scored in the Tigers' 11-3 win. Auburn drops two spots in latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll

Auburn drops two spots in latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll Auburn Tigers only drop two spots in USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll After being swept by the Texas Longhorns over the weekend, the Auburn Tigers dropped two spots in the latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll. The Tigers went from being No. 9 to dropping to No. 11. The Longhorns outscored the Tigers over the weekend 25-7 with the lone close game coming in game one where Texas took a 3-2 victory. Auburn did get a victory during the week versus Jacksonville State winning 4-3. It is the second time in SEC play this season the Tigers were swept. Georgia swept Auburn earlier in the season. It was a reverse of fortune after Auburn swept LSU the week prior. A highlight for the Tigers versus the Longhorns was Ike Irish. He hit four homeruns during the series and has 11 this season. The Tigers got a 4-3 win over Jacksonville State on the road on Tuesday. Auburn built a 3-0 lead after the fourth inning but could not hold on to it. Irish scored in the first run when Bub Terrell singled to center field. Eric Guevara and Chase Fralick hit singles in the inning that led to runs being scored by Cooper McMurray and Terrell. Lucas Steele hit the winning home run in the ninth after the Gamecock had tied the game at three in the eighth. Pitcher Ben Schorr picked up the win. Going into the Texas series it would take a great effort for Auburn to win, and the Longhorns showed why they are the best team in the country. The Tigers did not score more than three runs in any game. That was the series low for the Longhorns. The series ended with a 14-2 win for Texas that ended in seven innings. Auburn will now need to pick itself back up to get its momentum back. The good news is the Tigers will be back home at Plainsman Park this week. On Tuesday night Auburn will host Georgia Tech in a game that SEC Network will televise at 6 p.m. CT. Auburn defeated Georgia Tech 9-8 on April 8 and will be looking for an easier game this time. For the weekend, Auburn will host Mississippi State in SEC competition. The Bulldogs are 24-16 overall and 6-12 in the SEC. Auburn is one of ten teams in the latest rankings. Texas stays at No. 1 with the sweep. The rankings also feature Arkansas (No. 4), LSU (No. 5), Tennessee (No. 6), Georgia (No.9), Vanderbilt (No. 10), Oklahoma (No. 13), Alabama (No. 17), and Ole Miss (No. 18). Kentucky also received votes. Contact/Follow us @TheAuburnWire on X (Twitter), and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Auburn news, notes, and opinions. Auburn cracks top-10 of latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll after sweeping LSU

Auburn cracks top-10 of latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll after sweeping LSU Auburn's weekend sweep of LSU pushes them higher in the rankings. Coming off a week where the Auburn rallied to defeat Georgia Tech, and a weekend sweep of LSU, the Tigers are moving up in the polls once again. Auburn has moved up three spots in the latest USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll. They go from No. 12 to No. 9 in the newest rankings released on Monday. Auburn now has an overall record of 26-10, and they hold a 9-6 record in SEC competition. The week began with the Tigers earning a 9-8 road win over Georgia Tech. Auburn possessed a 5-1 lead before Georgia Tech scored six runs in the sixth inning to take a 7-5 lead. Auburn would then score three runs in the eighth to take a 9-7 lead after Deric Fabien scored on a Bub Terrell single. Georgia Tech would add one run in the ninth but could not get any closer. Then, Auburn headed back home from a big weekend series with No. 3 LSU. The Tigers from Baton Rouge entered the series with only three losses on the season. The Auburn Tigers doubled that number in the loss column. Auburn won game one 8-4 with a great performance from pitcher Samuel Dutton. He picked up his fifth win of the season by pitching six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Cade Fisher picked up his first win of the season, and Auburn used two runs in the fourth to get a 4-2 win in game two. Fisher pitched five innings and allowed just one run. He also struck out six batters while on the mound. Auburn trailed 1-0 as the fourth inning began. Eric Snow scored after a Ike Irish double to tie the game at one. Then, Irish would score when Cooper McMurray hit a double to center field to give Auburn a 2-1 lead. Snow hit a two-run home run in the fifth to give Auburn a 4-1 lead. On Sunday, Auburn held on for a 3-2 win after scoring three early runs. It was McMurray once again delivering the offense. In the first inning, he hit a double to left field that would score both Irish and Chris Rembert. Bristol Carter added the third run in the second for a 3-0 lead. LSU scored two runs in the eighth, but Auburn held on for the win. The sweep resulted in LSU dropping to No. 7. Auburn will have another big weekend series this week when they travel to meet the new No. 1 Texas Longhorns. First though, they will need to focus on Jacksonville State Tuesday night. Other teams in the SEC in the USA TODAY Baseball Coaches Poll are Arkansas (No.2), Tennessee (No.3), Georgia (No.5), Ole Miss (No.11), Alabama (No.15), Oklahoma (No.16), and Vanderbilt (No. 17).
