Kinetic DX e-scooter teased, launch confirmed for 28 July: What to expect
Kinetic Green is preparing to enter the electric scooter space with an all-new model set to debut on July 28, 2025. The company recently released a teaser confirming the launch date, while test mules of the scooter have also been spotted on the roads. Despite the camouflage, it's clear that the new Kinetic DX draws design inspiration from the iconic Kinetic Honda DX that was a household name in India during the 1980s. Kinetic DX e-scooter: What to expect As seen in the spied images, the front apron, the headlamp cluster, and the overall silhouette seem to pay homage to the classic, while also incorporating a few contemporary touches like a backlit Kinetic logo and a TFT instrument cluster. Underneath the retro bodywork lies a thoroughly modern setup. The electric scooter will be powered by a hub-mounted motor and can offer battery options ranging from 2 kWh to 3.5 kWh. The top speed is expected to touch 80 km/h, placing it squarely in the same performance bracket as rivals like the Bajaj Chetak, Hero Vida VX2, and more. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Simple One review: Is this the EV to beat? | TOI Auto The scooter can be expected to feature 12-inch wheels and a front disc brake, with a telescopic fork up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Grassroots Motorsport in India: A race stalled at the start
Image Credits: RedBull. This article is authored by Keshav Tayla, former business consultant. He is presently focused on grassroot motorsports development and ops in India. India's motorsport scene may boast names like Narain Karthikeyan and Jehan Daruvala, but for every driver who breaks through, hundreds fade out before they even get on track. The real problem lies at the grassroots level, where motorsport in India is barely crawling. Karting, the global gateway into racing, remains largely inaccessible. A single day of testing at a competitive karting track can cost as much as ₹30,000–₹50,000, making it out of reach for most middle-class families. Professional circuits are concentrated in a few cities like Chennai, Bengaluru and Coimbatore, leaving the rest of the country with either rental karting avenues or nothing at all. Mercedes-AMG C63 SE Review: Demolishes horizons but misses one thing | TOI Auto Schools and colleges don't offer structured motorsport programs and talent identification is essentially non-existent. There's no ladder system in place; no scholarships, no scouting, and minimal federation support for first-time entrants. Private academies are few and expensive and sponsorship at the entry level is virtually unheard of. Worse, young drivers often burn out, not because they lack skill, but because the system lacks continuity. There's no progression path from rental karts to competitive national level racing without significant personal funding. If India wants a sustainable motorsport future, investment must start from the bottom. That means subsidized karting programs, public tracks in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, school partnerships, and a serious rethink of how motorsport is perceived, not just as elite entertainment, but as a viable sport with career pathways in driving, engineering, and management. Until that happens, India's racing future will remain parked at the pit lane. The Road Ahead: Untapped Potential Despite the challenges, India holds immense potential to become a motorsport hub. A massive youth population, a growing automotive industry, and rising interest in motorsport content offer fertile ground. With the right infrastructure and policy support, grassroots racing can create jobs, not just for drivers, but engineers, mechanics, event managers, and media professionals. Local karting leagues, school partnerships and regional championships can nurture talent early and reduce dependence on foreign training. Motorsport also promotes STEM education and discipline, making it a powerful tool for youth development. If harnessed right, India could be grooming the next generation of global racing talent. KTM brings mobile service to Leh circuit: Key touchpoints, routes and details
KTM has introduced a dedicated 'Service on Wheels' (SOW) initiative for riders tackling one of India's most thrilling and remote adventure routes: the Manali–Jispa–Sarchu stretch. The newly launched mobile service setup is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted riding experiences, even on some of the country's most challenging terrains. Targeting the legendary Leh circuit, the KTM SOW initiative is designed to offer riders a sense of security and mechanical backup as they navigate the high-altitude passes and winding roads of the Himalayas. The service will operate between Jispa and Sarchu, two remote yet frequently visited stopovers for motorcyclists en route to Leh. This is where riders often face unpredictable conditions, and the presence of a mobile service unit could make all the difference. Maruti Suzuki Swift AMT Long-term Review: Buy or Not? | TOI Auto KTM's support along this route doesn't stop at SOW. 2025 Yamaha FZ-X launched in India at Rs 1.5 lakh: What's new
Yamaha Motor India has launched the updated 2025 Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid motorcycle in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 1.50 lakh, this makes it Rs 20,000 costlier than the standard FZ-X and Rs 5,000 more expensive than the FZ-S Hybrid. The bike is offered in a single matte green shade called Matte Titan and it also gets golden wheels. Those interested can book the bike online or by visiting their nearest Yamaha dealership , Deliveries are expected to begin soon. The Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid features smart fuel-saving technology when compared to the standard model. Much like its sibling, the FZ-X Hybrid comes equipped with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), which enables a quieter engine start and start-stop functionality to help conserve fuel in stop-and-go traffic. It also features a 4.2-inch colour TFT screen, along with updated switchgear to manage the new digital functions. The bike retains the familiar 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 12.4hp of power and 13.3 N · m of torque, paired with a five-speed gearbox. Performance figures remain unchanged, as the hybrid system is engineered to enhance mileage rather than increase output. Visually and mechanically, the FZ-X Hybrid is nearly identical to the standard version. The only notable difference lies in the weight—the hybrid variant tips the scales at 141kg, making it 2kg heavier due to the added tech. Range Rover Electric First Look & Feel Review: Still Authentic? | TOI Auto The FZ-X features telescopic forks at the front and a rear mono-shock with 7-step adjustability. For braking, the motorcycle uses disc brakes on both wheels, supported by a single-channel ABS setup and a traction control system.
