This is the first fatality reported during this year's Dahi Handi celebrations.
Across the city, a total of 30 participants were injured, most with minor injuries, according to BMC and government hospital data collected by the disaster management unit.
The incident highlights the risks involved in the popular festival, which sees groups of Govindas form human pyramids to break the Dahi Handi, a pot filled with curd, placed at height.
