Meet Ayrshire officers' newest recruits - police pups Zoon and Torro
Ayrshire police recently welcomed their newest recruits, TPD Torro and TPD Zoon, into their ranks.
Police Scotland welcomed their newest Ayrshire recruits into their ranks this week.
Zoon and Torro were officially inducted into the force as trainee police dogs.
The young pups are Dutch Herders and, all going well, will become general purpose police dogs one day.
After some tasty treats, the pups will have a year of socialisation and basic training - as well as lots of fun and games - before they old enough to begin full training.
General purpose dogs are mostly used for general patrol work and arresting criminals but they can also be used to search for missing people.
The Dutch Herder is breed originally used as a sheep dog in the Netherlands which almost died out following the introduction of modern farming techniques in the 20th century.
It is now one of the more common general purpose dogs used by Police Scotland alongside German Shepherds and Malinois.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Puppy alert.
"It's the newest recruits into Police Scotland - brothers TPD Zoon and TPD Torro.
"The Dutch Herder pups joined the training ranks in the West of the country where its a year of pup fun and socialisation before the real hard graft starts.
