Divyanshi Bhowmick has made history by winning the U15 girls singles title at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships.
Young Divyanshi Bhowmick made history by becoming the first Indian in over three decades to win the U15 girls singles title at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships.
Divyanshi beat China's Zhu Qihi 4-2 in a high-pressure final, capping a brilliant run that included wins against three Chinese paddlers, an unprecedented feat in Indian youth table tennis.
With this victory over Qihi, Divyanshi, who was seeded second, bagged a spot in the World Youth Championships as well. The tournament is scheduled to be played in November.
Divyanshi's standout moment came in the semis, where she edged past China's Liu Ziling in a thrilling seven-game battle to keep India's gold medal hopes alive.
Divyanshi was named the Best Women's Player at the Table Tennis Super League Maharashtra in April.
India wrapped up its campaign in Tashkent with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
