Nate Tomlinson added to CU basketball coaching staff
Say what you want about Tad Boyle, but he is loyal. Sometimes to a fault. After a disastrous first season back in the Big 12, the Colorado Buffaloes are running it back for the most part, with some changes. One of those changes is on staff. Nate Tomlinson, who was on staff in prior seasons, and on the team under Tad Boyle even before that, has rejoined the staff as an assistant coach. Advertisement Tomlinson was on staff as the director player development from 2019-2021, in the prime McKinley Wright era. He was on staff with Kim English, who then took the head coaching job at Providence College. Tomlinson followed him there, where he cut his teeth enough to come back to Boulder as an assistant coach. Prior to coaching at all, Tomlinson played basketball at the University of Colorado from 2008 - 2012. He was one of the players that stuck around from the Jeff Bzdelik era and helped Tad Boyle win a Pac-12 conference championship in the first year of the full conference (thank you also to Andre Roberson). Tomlinson is the second former Boyle player to join staff, with Evan Battey also on the bench as an assistant coach. This really isn't that surprising, given that Tomlinson and Battey were both fan favorites in their time as players at The Keg. Welcome back once again, Nate! More from

Colorado basketball accepts invite to inaugural College Basketball Crown
Colorado basketball accepts invite to inaugural College Basketball Crown The Colorado men's basketball team left the Big 12 Tournament last week, perhaps grateful that their miserable 20-loss season finally ended with a lossto Houston in the quarterfinals. Well, CU basketball fans, your team is back from the dead and will be headed to Las Vegas in hopes of some postseason glory. On Monday morning, Colorado announced it accepted an invitation to the inaugural College Basketball Crown. The Crown, a third-tier postseason competition developed by Fox, will rival the NIT as the premier secondary competition to the NCAA Tournament. The 16-team tournament will run from March 31 to April 6, with games at the MGM Grand Garden Area and the T Mobile Arena. The Buffaloes (14-20) will play Villanova in the first round on April 1 at 6:30 p.m. MT. The winner will face Tulane or former Pac-12 rival USC in the second round. Four other Big 12 teams – Utah, Arizona State, Cincinnati and Central Florida – are in the Crown field. Colorado will have quite a bit of time between Selection Sunday and the start of the College Basketball Crown. Still, head coach Tad Boyle's acceptance of an invite likely means he expects to field a competitive team with few departures in the transfer portal. How to watch Colorado vs TCU today: Time, TV channel for the season finale
How to watch Colorado vs TCU today: Time, TV channel for the season finale The Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team and head coach Tad Boyle are gearing up for the 2024-25 regular season finale on Saturday. On Senior Day the Buffs hope to get some retribution following the 68-57 loss on Feb. 2 in Fort Worth, Texas. The previous matchup was never really in doubt as TCU controlled the game in the second half after taking the lead midway in the first half. However, TCU isn't a strong team on the road this year with a record of 2-8 this season. Not that CU is much better at home with a record of 10-7. Most of those 10 wins came before conference play tipped off. With a horrific showing this season, Boyle is likely ready to get it over with. This will be the second time that the Buffaloes will miss the postseason since his arrival in 2010. Colorado looks to finish out strong with a win in front of the home crowd on Saturday afternoon. Is Colorado men's basketball doomed to finish winless in conference play?
Is Colorado men's basketball doomed to finish winless in conference play? Finishing winless in Big 12 Conference play has become an unfortunate possibility for the Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team. After falling to Utah on Wednesday evening, the Buffs stand 0-11 in the Big 12 with nine regular season conference games remaining. That may seem like ample opportunity for the Buffs to get lucky at least once, but their remaining schedule won't make things easy. Five of Colorado's nine remaining games are against ranked opponents, including two meetings with No. 16 Kansas. Colorado's best chance at breaking the longest losing streak in head coach Tad Boyle's 15 years at the helm comes on Feb. 15 against UCF (13-9, 4-7 Big 12). The Knights beat Colorado by only one point on Jan. 8 and are currently riding a three-game slide. If the Buffs can't beat UCF, their remaining slate features Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech and TCU. According to College Sports Wire's Patrick Conn, the 2013-14 TCU Horned Frogs and 2020-21 Iowa State Cyclones are the only teams to finish winless in Big 12 play since 2010. Colorado will host the No. 5 Houston Cougars on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT (ESPN+).
