Colorado basketball accepts invite to inaugural College Basketball Crown
The Colorado men's basketball team left the Big 12 Tournament last week, perhaps grateful that their miserable 20-loss season finally ended with a lossto Houston in the quarterfinals.
Well, CU basketball fans, your team is back from the dead and will be headed to Las Vegas in hopes of some postseason glory.
On Monday morning, Colorado announced it accepted an invitation to the inaugural College Basketball Crown. The Crown, a third-tier postseason competition developed by Fox, will rival the NIT as the premier secondary competition to the NCAA Tournament. The 16-team tournament will run from March 31 to April 6, with games at the MGM Grand Garden Area and the T Mobile Arena.
The Buffaloes (14-20) will play Villanova in the first round on April 1 at 6:30 p.m. MT. The winner will face Tulane or former Pac-12 rival USC in the second round.
Four other Big 12 teams – Utah, Arizona State, Cincinnati and Central Florida – are in the Crown field.
Colorado will have quite a bit of time between Selection Sunday and the start of the College Basketball Crown. Still, head coach Tad Boyle's acceptance of an invite likely means he expects to field a competitive team with few departures in the transfer portal.

Where Florida basketball vs Duke ranks among 16 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge matchups

Where Florida basketball vs Duke ranks among 16 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge matchups The matchups for the 2025 edition of the men's basketball ACC/SEC Challenge were announced last week, with the Florida Gators slated to take on the Duke Blue Devils inside Cameron Indoor Stadium on December 2. This face-off between the Rowdy Reptiles and the Cameron Crazies represents a clash of two titans from the 2024-25 campaign, both of whom made it to the Final Four and were among the top-ranked teams in the nation down the stretch. Both programs also won their respective conference tournament championships last spring as well. So, where does the Florida-Duke matchup stand among the 16 total games in this year's edition of the ACC-SEC Challenge? CBS Sports writer David Cobb ranked every game from top to bottom based on competitive value while also offering his personal prediction. It should come as no surprise to fans of either school that the tussle in the Tar Heel State ranks at the top of that list. "Duke will put its top-ranked high school recruiting class to the test against the reigning national champions in a must-see showdown. On a neutral floor, the Gators and their returning convoy of bigs would be the play. At Cameron Indoor Stadium? Well, that's a different story," Cobb begins. "The Blue Devils have enough veteran savvy to combine with the newbies for what would amount to a critical victory in the ACC's efforts. Duke (+1300) and Florida (+1600) currently have the third- and fourth-best odds, respectively, to win the 2026 NCAA Tournament, according to FanDuel Sportsbook." Cobb picks the Blue Devils to prevail on that early December Tuesday. Could the Nets trade with the Rockets prior to 2025 NBA Draft?

Could the Nets trade with the Rockets prior to 2025 NBA Draft? The Brooklyn Nets have some important decisions to make prior to the 2025 NBA Draft as they have four first-round picks in the event that begins on June 25. Brooklyn's first pick is eighth overall so they are reportedly trying to find a way to acquire another premium pick and a Western Conference team might fit the bill. NetsDaily reported earlier this month that he's "hearing Nets may want to move up from #19 to the lottery, offering CamJ and #19 to Raptors or Rockets for either Raps 9th or Rockets 10th plus a bad contract." Nets Wire has previously covered what a potential trade between the Nets and the Raptors would look like, but the Rockets could also be an attractive option. As shown in the post below, the Nets could trade forward Cam Johnson and the 19th overall pick to the Rockets for the 10th overall pick and forward Dillon Brooks, allowing the deal to work given how much Johnson ($20.5 million) and Brooks ($21.1 million) will make next season. This isn't to say that Houston will definitely take this deal if it were on the table, but it's to give a sense of what contracts would have to be exchanged. Nekias Duncan and Steve Jones Jr. of "The Dunker Spot" podcast recently did a livestream for Bleacher Report in which they broke down a way for both Brooklyn and Houston to get what they want. The duo suggested that the Nets would receive forward Jabari Smith Jr., center Jock Landale, and the 10th overall pick in exchange for Johnson, the 19th overall pick, and two second-round picks. The trade idea is framed as a way for the Nets to get what they reportedly want in terms of acquiring a second Lottery pick while the Rockets achieve the goal of adding another player who contributes to winning right away. With the report that Houston is one of the teams that Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant would prefer to be traded to, it's possible that the Nets won't have much time to engage in a deal with the Rockets.

"I Will Burn One Of You Hoes": Former NBA Champion Stephen Jackson Blasts His Team After First BIG3 Defeat

"I Will Burn One Of You Hoes": Former NBA Champion Stephen Jackson Blasts His Team After First BIG3 Defeat originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Former NBA champion and head coach of the BIG3 League team, the DMV Trilogy, Stephen Jackson did not hold back while blasting his team after their first loss of the season. After a 46-50 loss to the Houston Rig Hands, a video surfaced on the internet showing Jackson yelling at his players for their poor performance. He said: Advertisement "All gun sh*t, when somebody want to fight, you want somebody to grab. Same b***h a** n****s be at the hotel, begging me for shit. None of y'all wanna show out in front of these people." "One of you n****s is gonna get burned f***ing with me," he continued. "Google me, b***h. I will burn one of you hoes." Jackson's heated response has since gone viral on social media. The former NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs is more popularly known for his work as a host on the "All The Smoke" podcast with Matt Barnes. Jackson also had an impressive NBA career. Having spent 14 years in the league, the forward averaged 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists for his career. Although he bounced around many teams, he established himself as a core player with the Indiana Pacers and the Spurs for being a reliable scorer off the bench. Advertisement Since retirement, the 47-year-old has taken to coaching in the BIG3 League, founded by legendary hip hop artist Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz. Jackson also had a brief stint as a player in the BIG3, starring for the Killer 3s. But after the 2021 season, he switched to a coaching role and joined the DMV Trilogy, guiding them to back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022. Dwight Howard And Lance Stephenson Engage In A Brawl At BIG3 Game Former NBA champion Dwight Howard recently made his debut for the LA Riot at the BIG3 League. In a game against the Miami 305, Howard was set to establish himself as the dominant force he was known to be in the NBA during his prime. Advertisement Unfortunately, the 305 had other plans. Featuring the duo of Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley, Miami ran with a 50-44 win. Beasley even gave Howard a "Welcome to the League" moment by taunting him all game. Beasley's challenge was simply a gesture that has become particularly commonplace for the former NBA player. While the situation simply appeared to be a simple instance of aggressive basketball, matters hit a flashpoint when Howard and Stephenson got into a bit of a melee. Howard could be seen grabbing Stephenson and tossing him before officials and players intervened. The latter eventually pushed the LA big man to the ground while punches were being thrown. Advertisement While there is no official statement on what the next course of action is regarding this matter, it is safe to say that the BIG3 League remains an attractive source of entertainment for basketball fans.
