Holiday let decision amid 'party venue' fears near Glasgow
An application was submitted to East Renfrewshire Council by Tahir Munj to change the use of a house in Shuna Place in Newton Mearns and to convert its garage into a new ensuite bedroom.
A total of 19 objections were received in response to the plans, including from Jackson Carlaw MSP.
The objections detailed concerns about noise, late night activity, anti-social behaviour, the shortage of housing and the impact on waste disposal.

Some of the other concerns raised included road safety issues, insufficient parking, the impact on privacy, the potential impact on emergency and waste vehicles, and that the move would 'set a precedent'.
Previously privately rented out for a number of years, the owner wanted to let the six-bedroom property, either as a single let or two separate lets, for a minimum of two-night stays, with the average booking expected to be three to four days.
The applicant indicated that the number of guests at any one time could be up to ten.
East Renfrewshire Council Roads Service recommended refusal as there is "a lack of in curtilage parking associated with the business which could lead to dangerous or obstructive parking on the adjacent public roads".

Following planners recommendation for refusal, at a meeting of the planning applications committee last week permission was unanimously refused by members.
Explaining its decision to refuse the application, the council said the 'use of the dwellinghouse for short term lets will introduce a use that is not considered compatible with the neighbouring residential properties as there will be an intensification of the use of the property associated with the short term lets compared to pattern of use as a dwellinghouse.
'This intensification of use is considered to adversely affect the amenity of the neighbouring residential properties.
'There is insufficient in-curtilage parking required for the proposed short term lets which will result in additional and/or obstructive on-street parking in this cul-de-sac which will have an adverse impact on roads safety.'
