'I'm worried Harry Garside will punch me in the mouth': dirty dancing threat

Dancing With The Stars is back on Seven from Sunday, June 15, with 12 new celebrities ready to rhumba. And, according to at least one contestant, maybe also rumble. The line-up for the new season is: Micallef, former host of Mad as Hell and Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation, says he has long felt that his "true calling" was dance but he sees Harry Garside as his biggest threat on Dancing With The Stars. What are your dancing strengths? "There are really too many to list. The real question should be: is there a dance that can accommodate all my skills? My answer to that would be 'no way'." Any fears going into the show? "I have always been afraid of ghosts and this fear is still with me. I'm worried Seven will show old sketches featuring me on Full Frontal - a sketch show from the '90s - and I'll get cancelled." What will you get out of the experience? "Beating Rebecca Gibney will be enough for me. Beating everybody else as well is just the icing on the cake." How will you cope with criticism from the judges? "You mean how will I cope with all their unalloyed praise? I'll take it in my stride, I'm sure. It may get a little embarrassing week after week but that's their problem." What's something we don't know about you that might surprise your fans? "I think the only thing that will surprise anybody is that I have fans. It will surprise me anyway. After all, I've been on the ABC for the last 12 years." Who's your biggest threat in the show? "Harry Garside. I'm worried he will punch me in the mouth. Actually, I'm worried Felicity Ward will punch me in the mouth too." How would you psych yourself up before you step onto the dance floor? "I remind myself that I started my TV career at Seven 30 years ago and that, with Dancing With The Stars, I'm probably going to end it there too. With nothing to lose, I'm just going to relax and enjoy myself." Dancing With The Stars is back on Seven from Sunday, June 15, with 12 new celebrities ready to rhumba. Channel 10 officially revives Talkin' ‘Bout Your Gen with ABC star Anne Edmonds as host

Comedian and ABC star Anne Edmonds will host a revival of Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation on Channel 10 as the game show returns to Ten for the first time in over a decade. The hour-long quiz show sees three different cultural generations test their popular culture knowledge and originally aired on Ten from 2009 until 2012. Ten later cancelled the series before it was revived by rival Channel 9 in 2018 and axed again in 2019. In a statement, Ten confirmed the quiz show will return to its original home this year with Edmonds replacing Shaun Micallef as host. 'The generational showdown Talkin' 'Bout Your Gen is back with a bold new look, a brand new set, and a fearless new host, the quick-witted and hilarious Anne Edmonds,' the network said in a statement. 'Each week, we find out which generation truly reigns supreme when Gen X, Y, and Z go head-to-head for the ultimate bragging rights.' Edmonds is a familiar face on Ten as a regular panelist on Have You Been Paying Attention? but remains best known for her work on the ABC series Get Krack!n. 'As the new host of Talkin' 'Bout Your Gen my only wish in the world is that Gen Z will tell me I slay, and Boomers will tell me they don't need any help finding it on 10 Play! I'm so excited to host this show and find out what's wrong with young people and old people, but mainly with millennials,' Edmonds said in a statement. The game show has courted controversy over the years, with claims the series has misrepresented numerous contestants' generations and public outcry after an elderly contestant had sour cream poured over her for a challenge called "Human Nacho". The announcement comes as the network continues to rebuild and revamp its programming lineup after wielding the axe to ageing franchises like The Bachelor and The Masked Singer. Ten has also opted to rest comedy series Thank God You're Here, while doubling down on long-running staples like Have You Been Paying Attention? and The Project. Earlier this month, the channel gave the greenlight for Sam Pang's late night show to return for a 'second run' of episodes just weeks after its debut in March.
