Indian-origin Dr Vinay Prasad returns to FDA weeks after exit; Laura Loomer calls it 'egregious decision'
Dr Vinay Prasad is back at his FDA job weeks after exit that was prompted by right-wing activist Laura Loomer's campaigning against Prasad. Dr Vinay Prasad, the Indian-origin vaccine chief of the FDA who was forced to resign in July after far-right activist Laura Loomer led a campaign against him, has been reinstated to his job in an unusual instance. Laura Loomer pointed out the critical comments that Dr Prasad made about President Donald Trump before joining the administration, while some of his decisions to deny drug approvals also came under fire. A Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson confirmed to the New York Times that Dr Prasad is returning to the agency. 'At the F.D.A.'s request, Dr. Vinay Prasad is resuming leadership of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research,' Andrew Nixon, a health department spokesman, said in a statement. The NYT report observed that Dr Prasad's rehiring suggests that the health secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr., and the FDA commissioner, Dr Marty Makary, remain influential enough in the Trump administration to employ someone who had previously expressed disdain for Trump and his followers. Loomer reacted to the reinstatement and called in another "egregious personnel decision". "In another egregious personnel decision under the Trump administration, it is now being reported that longtime progressive Marxist Vinay Prasad who referred to President Trump's supporters as criminals and compared them to drug addicts after saying he stabbed a Trump voodoo doll to 'curse Trump' is apparently back at FDA," Loomer wrote. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Everyone is suddenly using this AI language learning app Talkpal AI Learn More Undo RFK Jr tapped Dr Prasad in May when the previous head of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation left the role. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr Prasad gained prominence as an outspoken critic of vaccines and mask mandate. In his short stint at the FDA since May, Dr Prasad limited the use of Covid-19 vaccines and promoted warnings about a rare side effect of the vaccines. When he resigned from his role weeks ago, a department spokesperson told the NYT: "Dr. Prasad did not want to be a distraction to the great work of the FDA in the Trump administration and has decided to return to California and spend more time with his family." Kennedy, however, opposed Prasad's departure from the role and remained invested in bringing him back. Dr Prasad was born and brought up in Ohio and Chicago to Indian immigrant parents.

Teen kills younger brother, buries body near house
1 2 Bhubaneswar: A 17-year-old teenager killed his 12-year-old younger brother and buried the body close to their house one-and-a-half months back without giving the slightest hint about it until police arrested him at Titlagarh in Balangir district on Saturday. The accused told police that he committed the crime because he constantly felt sidelined and neglected because his parents' paid more attention to the younger child. For around 45 days it was a blind case for the police. But a vital clue provided by the accused's parents during questioning unravelled the mystery. The accused's mother told police that when she returned home on June 28 evening, her elder son (the accused) was washing the floor. When police asked if he did it regularly, she replied in the negative bringing the older sibling under the purview of the investigation. He confessed to the crime soon after. Police sources said the accused tried to clean the floor as blood had spilled after he stabbed his brother. The accused used an agricultural tool kept in the house to dig the pit twice — once immediately after the murder and again late at night on the same day, police said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Become Fluent in Any Language Talkpal AI Install Now Undo IGP (northern range) Himanshu Kumar Lal said the boy first buried the body inside the house and then late in the night shifted it to another place near the house, fearing his parents would suspect if the body remained inside. "After it was ascertained that the older sibling was involved, it was tough to establish the crime. So we exhumed the body," he told TOI. SP (Balangir) Abilash G said the parents, both daily-wage labourers, lodged a missing complaint at Titlagarh police station on June 29. Initially police suspected it to be a case of child trafficking. "Though police officers were deployed strategically and all CCTV cameras were scanned, we were getting no result. Interrogation of the parents time and again led to the detection," the SP said. The minor accused in the case is being treated under the category of Children In Conflict with Law (CICL). Tom Brady heaps praise on Patrick Mahomes' career so far: "Love watching him play'
Tom Brady opens up about Patrick Mahomes, says watching him play is an absolute treat (Getty Images) From childhood fascination to billion-dollar hobby, Tom Brady's love for sports cards has stood the test of time. What started as a reward system tied to school grades has now transformed into a full-fledged investment-and an emotional connection-that the seven-time Super Bowl winner continues to nurture. Brady's recent venture with CardsVault reflects not only his nostalgia, but also his eye for rising stars and iconic legends. Tom Brady's love for sports cards grows into passion project that includes Mahomes , Daniels, and more In the late 20th century, a young Brady could often be found sprinting into What's on Second Sports Shop with hopes of adding to his growing collection. His parents made sure that cards were earned, not given-good grades paved the way for new packs. From football to baseball, Brady collected whatever he could afford, but his loyalty always leaned toward players who inspired him. Over time, names like Will Clark, Nolan Ryan, and Peyton Manning began filling his stash. Even after moving to college and eventually into the NFL , Brady kept the tradition alive. With deeper pockets and an even deeper passion, he started acquiring rare and high-value pieces-fusing childhood wonder with grown-up resources. Now partnered with CardsVault, Brady aims to track down the most elusive cards on the market. His mission is as competitive as his football career. At the grand opening of CardsVault's Wrigley Field store, Brady teamed up with card expert Chris Costa. Among his top finds were a Dirk Nowitzki rookie card and a Cooper Flagg card for his son, Jack. But it was a limited-edition Downtown Patrick Mahomes card that really caught his eye. Without hesitation, Brady added it to his haul and praised Mahomes, saying, 'This guy is legit, and he is an unbelievable player. Love watching him play.' Tom Brady always backs the new generation Brady's admiration isn't just reserved for proven superstars. He's already keeping an eye on rising talents like Jayden Daniels. Spotting both a rookie card and a Downtown edition of the young quarterback, Brady didn't shy away from expressing his excitement, saying Daniels' cards are 'absolutely worth picking up.' Despite being widely considered the GOAT, Brady has acknowledged Mahomes as a worthy heir to the throne. Speaking to Kevin Hart, Brady shared, 'Patrick has their mentality. He has the will to win. He's got a desire every time he takes the field to be a great leader… Everything he says is the right thing.' Mahomes has returned that respect wholeheartedly. 'He is the greatest of all time,' Mahomes once said, acknowledging how much Brady's advice has meant to his own journey. While the record books belong to Brady for now, the admiration he shares with Mahomes-and the attention he's giving to players like Daniels-shows that TB12 remains as invested in football's future as he is in its collectibles. Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC hit the golf course for epic showdown as friendly rivalry continues
AJ McLean of Backstreet Boys and Joey Fatone of NSYNC (Image Source: Getty) I n an amusing reminder of the spirit of friendly competition, two of the biggest boy bands of the late '90s and early '00s, for that matter, are swapping microphones for golf clubs. The Backstreet Boys are making pop nostalgia a competitive sporting event; now, they've formally challenged *NSYNC to a five-on-five golf match. The challenge was revealed amid some playful banter as Backstreet's Brian Littrell and Nick Carter enjoy some time off from their current Las Vegas residency. Backstreet Boys take the golf club, not the mic Speaking casually, Littrell suggested it was time for a "Boy Band Mania Golf Tournament," challenging *NSYNC. Carter immediately jumped in, reiterating, "Yeah, let's go… we want NSYNC right now in a five-on-five." Backstreet Boys Challenge *NSYNC To Golf Match | TMZ Sports Both groups dominated the charts in the late '90s and were often seen as competing pop groups. This good-natured competition adds a playful, nostalgic touch to their relationship as fans mature and the members settle into more relaxed pastimes. Fans are already being sold on the premise of boy band members going head to head on a golf course. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Discover the AI-powered language app that's changing how everyone learns Talkpal AI Undo Handicap showdown: who's who on the greens Brian Littrell presently has a 6.8 handicap, a strong number by amateur standards. Nick Carter has a 19 handicap, and while he isn't quite as seasoned, he's ready to do his part. Justin Timberlake, who is a regular on the golf scene and approaches single digits as well, would easily be regarded as a formidable opponent if *NSYNC takes him up on his offer. Featuring the signature style and groove from each band member, this is so much more than a game; it's an embodiment of their everlasting legacy. A detour from tour duties, but the show goes on Of course, the Backstreet Boys are still in it to win it with their music, even as they prepare for the special battle. Their Las Vegas residency has had a large audience, and even the likes of NBA star Luka Dončić have been seen gracing the stands. NSYNC has yet to accept the challenge, but either way, it has gotten fans talking again. A 2025 golf match among these iconic groups isn't what fans were anticipating, but it might be the reunion that they didn't know that they wanted. It is a fun throwback to be sure, with more than a few surprise birdies. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
