NASCAR Hall of Fame's 2026 class revealed: Kurt Busch, Harry Gant, Ray Hendrick earn entry
NASCAR Hall of Fame's 2026 class revealed: Kurt Busch, Harry Gant, Ray Hendrick earn entry Show Caption Hide Caption Drivers debate what is the best NASCAR movie of all time We get to the bottom of an age-old question at the USA TODAY 301 in New Hampshire -- what is the better NASCAR movie, Talladega Nights or Days of Thunder? The NASCAR Hall of Fame will induct Kurt Busch, Harry Gant and Ray Hendrick in the Class of 2026, the hall announced Tuesday. Busch and Gant were selected from the Modern Era Ballot, each garnering 61% of the vote. Jeff Burton, Harry Hyde and Randy Dorton were the next-highest finishers who didn't make the cut. Hendrick was voted in on the Pioneer Ballot with 31% of the votes. Bob Welborn finished second. Busch, 46, made the Hall in his first year on the ballot. He was the Cup Series champion in 2004 and won 34 times in the Cup Series, including two crown jewel races: the 2010 Coca-Cola 600 and the 2017 Daytona 500. Gant, 85, followed 21 victories in what's now called the Xfinity Series with 18 wins in the Cup Series, including the Southern 500 in 1984 and 1991. Already a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, Gant was in his seventh year on the NASCAR Hall's ballot. Gant also holds the record for the oldest driver to win a Cup Series race (52 years, eight months) when he prevailed at Michigan International Speedway in 1992. Hendrick, who died in 1990, enjoyed a 36-year motorsports career and was known throughout the South as "Mr. Modified" for his successes in modified stock car racing. He is credited with more than 700 victories in modified racing and the Late Model Sportsman Series. Busch, Gant and Hendrick were all named to NASCAR's 75 Greatest Drivers list for the league's 75th anniversary in 2023. NASCAR also recognized H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, former president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway, with the Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR. The Class of 2026 will be inducted on Jan. 23 in Charlotte.

NASCAR at Talladega results: Austin Cindric wins Jack Link's 500
NASCAR at Talladega results: Austin Cindric wins Jack Link's 500 Show Caption Hide Caption Drivers debate what is the best NASCAR movie of all time We get to the bottom of an age-old question at the USA TODAY 301 in New Hampshire -- what is the better NASCAR movie, Talladega Nights or Days of Thunder? Austin Cindric held off Ryan Preece down the stretch to win the Jack Link's 500 as the NASCAR Cup Series returned to action after a bye week on Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama. The Fords of Cindric and Preece ran 1-2 side-by-side in front of the Chevrolets of William Byron and Kyle Larson with 17 laps to go. The pair raced tight but clean off Turn 4 for the final time, with Cindric's No. 2 Team Penske car edging Preece's No. 60 by 0.022 seconds for his third career win in his 125th start. On the day's final pit stop, Cindric's crew turned in the quickest service on the No. 2 car, which gridded 25th as it hit pit road. The victory was just Ford's third in the past 10 Talladega events. Larson and Byron finished third and fourth, while Joey Logano ended up in fifth. Polesitter Zane Smith was 21st. Ryan Blaney, the 2023 series champion, wrecked out in the first caution and was 39th in his fourth DNF this season. After Smith led them to green following his first career pole qualifying spot, his No. 38 Ford was quickly under attack for the lead by Austin Dillon, Michael McDowell and Kyle Busch. However, the Toyota contingent soon formed on the top line of the 2.66-mile superspeedway and blew past the Fords and Chevys toward the front in the 60-lap Stage 1. Two laps after pitting, Busch and Brad Keselowski wrecked coming toward pit road. Three-time Talladega winner Blaney and Alex Bowman also received damage. With 10 laps to go in the segment, there was more trouble after Christopher Bell and Chris Buescher spun down to the apron while running side by side on the front row. Bell's No. 20 crashed into the inside wall in the 188-lap race's hardest hit. In a four-car bowtie brigade, Larson recorded his first Talladega stage win, though he was soon sent to the back for speeding on pit road. The Chevys of Byron, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Chase Elliott took the next three spots. Bubba Wallace maxed the bonus points by holding off Logano and Larson, who overcame his speeding infraction, to win Stage 2. Cindric was fourth. With 50 laps to go, five Toyotas led five Fords and two Chevrolets as the manufacturers teamed up and went two-wide instead of three abreast. This Could Be the Best Cryptocurrency to Buy Now and Hold Forever
Amid all the uncertainty and volatility surrounding global tariffs, it's understandable why many investors may be planning to steer clear of crypto right now. After all, cryptocurrencies -- just like stocks -- are down across the board, with some of them down as much as 50% for the year. But there's one cryptocurrency you might want to think about buying now and holding forever, and that's Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC). Here's why. Perhaps the biggest factor in Bitcoin's favor is its remarkable resilience. During the past 15 years, it has undergone several boom-and-bust cycles, and it is famous for its volatility. But here's the thing -- after every major decline, Bitcoin has bounced back, reaching new highs. So, even if you think that Bitcoin is headed for a stinker of a year in 2025, it's worth looking back at previous market cycles, to see just how quickly Bitcoin ultimately rebounded. The three key years to consider are 2014 (when Bitcoin fell by 57%), 2018 (when Bitcoin plummeted by 74%), and 2022 (when Bitcoin sank by 64%). After every one of those epic collapses, Bitcoin went on to hit another record high. Take, for example, the last Bitcoin market cycle. Bitcoin reached a high of $69,000 in November 2021 before ultimately sinking below $16,000 in November 2022. But Bitcoin took off from there, posting triple-digit percentage returns in both 2023 and 2024, before hitting a brand-new all-time high of $109,000 in January. Historical performance is no guarantee of future results. But the historical record suggests that Bitcoin has the ability to bounce back from any major retreat. So if tariff uncertainty has you on tenterhooks, this might provide some peace of mind. In 2024, WisdomTree (NYSE: WT) published a comprehensive report analyzing Bitcoin's performance relative to eight asset classes. It looked at the period between 2012 and 2023, to see how Bitcoin stacked up against equities, bonds, commodities, and gold. What it found was astounding: In nine of those 12 years, Bitcoin was easily the top-performing asset in the world, and it wasn't even close. But in the other three years (2014, 2018, and 2022), Bitcoin was the worst-performing asset in the world, and it wasn't even close. If Bitcoin were a race car driver, it would be Ricky Bobby, the character played by Will Ferrell in the comedy Talladega Nights. His motto was, "If you ain't first, you're last." It summarized his reckless, do-anything-to-win mentality. Sometimes, it leads to winning the race; other times, it leads to spinning out, wrecking, and not being able to finish the race. Still, you definitely need to be comfortable with Bitcoin's volatility. In most years, you might come in first. But, in the others, you need to be ready to accept some stomach-churning losses. Right now, it's looking like 2025 is shaping up to be one of those stomach-churning years. Bitcoin is down nearly 25% from the all-time high of $109,000 in January, and shows few signs of turning around anytime soon. It's important to keep a long-term investment mindset when it comes to Bitcoin. According to Cathie Wood of Ark Invest, you should be willing to hold your Bitcoin for several years to optimize your gains. If you're simply viewing Bitcoin as a short-term momentum play, you're doing it all wrong. In Ark Invest's "Big Ideas 2024" report, Wood clearly laid out how Bitcoin has outperformed every major asset class over long time horizons. Over a seven-year time period, Bitcoin's average annualized return was 44%. Other major asset classes averaged just 5.7%. Moreover, Bitcoin's performance improved the longer you held it. So, for example, an investor who held Bitcoin for the full seven years could expect an average annualized return of about 70%, while an investor who held Bitcoin for just four years could expect an average annualized return of about 55%. The final factor in Bitcoin's favor is that it has finally tipped into the mainstream. The launch of the new spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024 was a key reason. These ETFs opened up Bitcoin to hedge fund managers, institutional investors, and everyday investors already familiar with exchange-traded funds. Suddenly, Bitcoin became as easy to buy as a tech stock, and more than $100 billion flowed into these ETFs. There's likely to be even more mainstream acceptance of Bitcoin coming. The Trump administration has made crypto a priority, and has already taken steps to boost Bitcoin's future prospects by creating a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. Any future buying of Bitcoin by the U.S. government would obviously be huge for Bitcoin's price. Given all this, Bitcoin might just be the best cryptocurrency to buy and hold forever. But don't forget to buckle up, because this could be a wild ride. INDYCAR drivers on giving, receiving the middle finger: Like saying 'I love you'
Admit the sin. As a driver, most people have probably done it. Or at least thought about it. While driving along, someone else pulls a questionable move in traffic. For some reason, it triggers the other driver. And the reaction is the "you're No. 1" sign using the middle finger. Now, just imagine this happening around at 200 miles an hour. The rage and the reaction? Instantaneous. So in that spirit of a moment of reactionary rage, we asked the INDYCAR drivers how many middle fingers they would receive and if they are more likely to deliver or receive during the season. Most drivers played along. And, not surprisingly, Will Power was at the top of the list. "It depends if we're counting Will Power, and that's going up to like the 50s, 60s," defending series champion Alex Palou said with a smile. "If we're not counting Will Power, maybe 10 to 15." And he wasn't the only one: David Malukas: "From all drivers or just Power?" Sting Ray Robb: "At least two if Will Power is involved." For the record, we didn't see any clear flip-offs during the opener a couple of weeks ago in St. Petersburg. But drivers have 16 events remaining on the schedule to get angry with each other, and they get back to racing on March 23 at The Thermal Club. Drivers' responses to the middle-finger question varied from philosophical to an analysis of the situation. Nolan Siegel: "I think you're doing something wrong if you don't get at least two." Kyle Kirkwood He just gives people a thumbs up: "You can't get in trouble for a thumbs up. But it's very offensive." Callum Ilott: "[I'll get] two. But that could be from two individual drivers or from one individual driver with two hands." Conor Daly: "Honestly, if I'm getting middle fingers from Will Power, that probably means I'm in the right place." Marcus Armstrong: "If Ricky Bobby [from the movie Talladega Nights] taught us anything, there's no shame in doing that." Most drivers said they would likely receive more than they give. Here's a sampling: Palou: "I expect to receive more. I'm not a very middle-finger guy. But this could change." Colton Herta: "I delivered one. You never see them when you get them. We need guys to wear bright-colored gloves." Graham Rahal: "I plan on getting zero. However, I'm sure we'll get some and some are just for good fun, too. It's not always a bad thing when it happens. Sometimes it's like an 'I love you' in a different sort of form. I'll probably give more. I'm a giving person in that regard." Josef Newgarden: "I will be delivering none. But I might be receiving some. That's very possible." Scott McLaughlin: "I think I was the most last year giving them out. So I fully believe I could be up to [getting] a dozen, which is fine. I'll give it right back. That's my way of telling them I'm No. 1 in the session." And as far as Power, he doesn't love that reputation, but it's part of his history. "It was such a normal thing to do when I was younger in Australia," he said. And he typically gets over it quickly. "You can flip someone off and two minutes later be good with them," Power said. "Sometimes it's such a natural reaction, I've got to remember, 'You can't do that on TV.'" Bob Pockrass covers NASCAR and INDYCAR for FOX Sports.
