Lottery club ‘flipped out' when they hit the jackpot in Michigan. ‘Total shock'
Two friends spending time together in Northern Michigan bought a lottery ticket and hit the jackpot. 'My friend, the other club member, lives in Northern Michigan, and we just recently started playing the Lottery together whenever I am up north at my cabin,' the spokesperson for the club told lottery officials. They bought a ticket at Talley's Log Cabin Bar in Lewiston, but they didn't know how much they had won. They scanned the ticket and were told to go to the lottery office, officials said. When they scanned their Fast Cash ticket again on the app, they 'flipped out' when they saw the prize. The pair from a Wayne County lottery club had just hit the jackpot and won $793,304, Michigan lottery officials said in a June 4 news release. 'It was a total shock and took a while to wrap our heads around it,' one of the winners told officials. Now, the two winners plan to use the money to live without debt, officials said. 'I don't think it's going to fully sink in until we cash our checks,' the player told officials. Lewiston is about a 225-mile drive northwest from Detroit.

Police said two men have been arrested in a Waynesboro robbery where an employee was pepper-sprayed on Memorial Day. According to the Waynesboro Police Department, on May 26 officers responded to a reported theft and assault at the Tractor Supply Co., located at 301 Lew Dewitt Boulevard. A suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Joshua Lee Talley of Staunton, allegedly bypassed the registers with a cart full of merchandise. When confronted in the parking lot by a store employee, he reportedly pepper-sprayed the employee in the face, causing injury. He fled the scene in a grey Chevrolet Impala reportedly driven by Andrew Clay Ottinger, 27, of Waynesboro, police said. The following day, police went to a residence in the 500 block of Bluff Avenue in Waynesboro, where Ottinger was arrested without incident. Officers searched the home and found Talley hiding inside, police said. He reportedly resisted arrest and engaged in a physical altercation with police but was taken into custody. Talley faces felony charges of robbery, illegal use of gases, and assault on a police officer. He was also charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice. Homer Allen Talley, 50, is being charged with felony attempting to elude, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 27 uniform traffic citations. Deputies said they received a tip that a black GMC Yukon, reported stolen out of Marshall County, might be in the Hulaco and Somerville area. According to an affidavit, two deputies were stationed at the four-way stop at Alabama 36 and Alabama 67 in Somerville when they spotted a vehicle matching the description heading north on Alabama 67. The deputies identified the driver as Talley and, after noticing the vehicle had no tag, initiated a traffic stop near Jack's Family Restaurant in Somerville.
