Union Min Vaishnaw lauds TN's Electronics sector growth
CHENNAI: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday appreciated the state government for its growth in the electronics manufacturing sector. In a video message delivered during the launch of 'Tamil AI' project, Vaishnaw said the electronics manufacturing sector in Tamil Nadu is expanding rapidly, with many projects for manufacturing mobilephones, laptop being established here. He lauded Tamil-AI as a path-breaking initiative, which marks a new era in integrating cutting-edge technology with one of the world's oldest and richest languages. 'The Tamil AI project, as part of the larger AI Mission, holds the promise to transform how artificial intelligence is used with Tamil. This is not just about innovation–it is about inclusion and cultural preservation through technology,' he said. Tamil-AI is a project to develop artificial intelligence tasks specifically for the Tamil language. A Ashwathaman, founder of Tamil AI project, said the initiative aims to incorporate all ancient Tamil books into the language model.

Tamil Nadu emerging as key electronics manufacturing hub, says Ashwini Vaishnaw
Tamil Nadu is fast emerging as a key electronics manufacturing hub with major projects in mobile phones, laptops and server manufacturing and a newly approved electronics cluster, said Union Minister for Railways and Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday. Addressing the audience during the launch of Tamil AI project through video conference, Mr. Vaishnaw said Tamil AI is a path-breaking initiative and will make a big impact on the way Indian languages get incorporated to mission AI. 'We are following our Prime Minister's vision of democratising technology. In the field of AI, we have set up an AI mission where our entire thrust is on developing common compute facility solutions which can be used in our country. I hope Tamil AI will bring a big difference in the way AI gets integrated with one of the oldest language, Tamil, ' said Mr. Vaishnaw. The Railway Minister also said Tamil Nadu is a major manufacturing centre for the Vande Bharat trains and the entire country is happy using the Vande Bharat services. Saraswathy Kandasami, Deputy Minister of National Unity, Government of Malaysia, said that wherever the Tamil language exists, ethics naturally follow. She also explained how schools in Malaysia teach Tamil language to the students and hailed the Tamil AI initiative for its goal of integrating Tamil literature and research into artificial intelligence. Pappa Vetri, Councillor at Chelmsford City Council, United Kingdom, said Tamil AI is a powerful movement that bridges technology and language, adding that it will significantly expand the global reach of Tamil. A. Ashwathaman, founder of the Tamil AI project, said that the initiative aims to incorporate all published Tamil books. He noted that once completed, this large language model could be used for several purposes including generating commentaries on ancient Tamil poems.
