Indian ambassador applauds cultural fusion in Tanjore-inspired Omani art

MUSCAT: In a meaningful exchange of artistic tribute, renowned artist Dr Kavitha Ramakrishna recently presented G V Srinivas, the Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, with original oil painting portraits of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. The portraits, crafted with deep respect and admiration, honour the visionary leadership and enduring legacy of the Sultanate. During the meeting, the ambassador also had the opportunity to view Dr Kavitha's collection of Tanjore paintings, which uniquely blend the intricate traditional South Indian art form with the elegance of Omani jewelry and the historical monuments of Oman. This ongoing artistic endeavor reflects the cultural harmony between India and Oman, two nations deeply connected through their rich heritage and mutual respect. As part of the presentation, Dr Kavitha also handed over a copy of her book Tamoghna, which explores her reflections on sun salutation and Yoga. The Ambassador expressed heartfelt appreciation for her work, praising her as a 'true cultural ambassador' who bridges the artistic legacies of both nations. This significant interaction highlights the strong cultural ties between India and Oman and reinforces the role of art in fostering dialogue, understanding, and unity between diverse communities. The exchange stands as a testament to the continued collaboration and cultural appreciation between the two countries. Dr Kavitha's work has previously earned her commendations from the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, during his 2018 state visit to Oman, as well as prestigious recognitions including the Al Maara Award, the Oman Woman of the Year Award, and the Kempegowda Award from the Government of Karnataka.
