Tampa Bay's largest general contractors and construction firms
The 82 largest general contractors in Tampa Bay reported more than $7.9 billion in revenue from offices located in Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties. The online version of this ranking expands beyond what appears in print; another 78 general contractors are included in our digital rankings, in addition to the 80 featured in this week's print edition. This week's List is part of a shift in our research methodology and philosophy in 2025, one that will emphasize more data and context for readers while better coordinating the resources available to us and our 46 sister publications under the American City Business Journals flag. We anticipate this effort will identify thousands of new local records — and cumulatively, tens of thousands of new businesses across ACBJ's footprint — this year alone. Information on The List was obtained through Tampa Bay Business Journal research or supplied by individual firms through questionnaires that TBBJ could not independently verify. In case of ties, firms are ranked by total employment and then listed alphabetically if ties remain. Additionally, companies that did not respond to employment surveys but were still included on this year's List are sorted by estimated total employment figures derived from TBBJ archives; annual filings with the U.S. Department of Labor; and other firm-specific resources. Inclusion on this year's List required each firm to have a minimum of 50 total employees, using the methodologies described above. Yankees star caught in legal crossfire over high-priced home upgrades
Aaron Judge isn't just battling pitchers this season. Judge and his wife, Samantha, are also fighting a legal battle off the field over what he claims was a $750,000 case of designer deception, which includes a $33,000 couch. According to a report from the Tampa Bay Business Journal, the Judges are being hit with a countersuit from Amanda Drew of Drew Designs. Drew claims the couple refused to pay outstanding bills tied to renovations of their homes in Tampa and New York City. That included a now-infamous couch they say could have been purchased for as low as $18,100. Advertisement In her countersuit filed in March, Drew denies the allegations and argues that the couple wrongfully terminated their contract and still owes money for completed work. She also disputes the Judges' claims of hidden fees, saying any charges were standard and properly disclosed. The battle over receipts has intensified this month, with Judge's legal team issuing more than 60 subpoenas to contractors and vendors tied to the renovations. The Judges say Drew refused to hand over key financial records, making it impossible to know the full extent of what they were overcharged. This off-field drama comes as Judge continues to play under his record-setting $360 million contract with the Yankees, which the couple claims made them a target for inflated costs. The legal battles are clearly no distraction for Judge at the ballpark. He is having a historic start to the 2025 season. Through 46 games, the Yankees' captain boasts a .401 batting average, leading the American League, 15 home runs and 41 RBIs, placing him among the league leaders in both categories. ‘Magic Mike' fans can buy the $12M Florida mansion where Channing Tatum worked his day job
This attractive Florida property might just fulfill your wildest fantasies. Listed for $12 million, a waterfront mansion in Tierra Verde boasts classic Mediterranean architecture and a prominent cameo in the steamy 2012 box office hit 'Magic Mike.' The news was first reported by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The house, completed in 2013, was aptly cast as a construction site in the film — because it was actually under construction in real life. Mike, played by Channing Tatum, works on the structure alongside Adam, played by Alex Pettyfer. Listing agent Jennifer Zales of Coldwell Banker told The Post that the home was surrounded by scaffolding when it was scouted for some of the film's opening scenes. During the day, however, the duo laid red Spanish tile on the roof of this 7,825-square-foot, gated home. It's now listed for its very first time. The residence juts out into the bay on 0.36 acres of land. It resides in the million dollar-plus Tierra Verde neighborhood of Sands Point. The film was shot in various locations around the Tampa Bay area, where Tatum himself once worked as an 18-year-old stripper. The classic Mediterranean mansion encompasses five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The living areas are built for entertaining — bar seating in the gourmet kitchen, a grilling terrace and a media room with a wet bar are among its offerings. 8 The living room features a large limestone fireplace and a two-story ceiling. Tom Sica Photography In addition to unbeatable waterfront views, the backyard enjoys a covered patio and a heated saltwater pool and spa. Despite its wide-open exposure to the great outdoors, Zales emphasized that the home is built to last. Its storm-resilient design includes steel reinforced concrete and storm resistant windows. The property also boasts an attached guest casita with two ensuite guest bedrooms, fully equipped living areas and its own elevator.
