Menczer: Hungarians refuse to ruin the country for the sake of Ukraine
Tamás Menczer, the Fidesz-Christian Democrats communications director, said on Monday: 'We Hungarians are not with Zelensky! We don't want to ruin our country for the sake of Ukraine!' The ruling party politician said in a post on Facebook that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky liked to quote a survey by the opposition Tisza Party suggesting that 58 percent of Hungarians backed Ukraine's EU membership. He added that Zelensky even exaggerated the polling numbers and claimed that 70 percent of Hungarians supported Ukraine. Menczer said, however, that 'we Hungarians are not with Zelensky!' 'We are providing all possible humanitarian aid and commend the heroic stand of Ukrainians, but we don't want to destroy our country for the sake of Ukraine,' he added. He insisted that Ukraine, should it acquire EU membership, would present multiple dangers. Referring to a 'plan' to cut Hungary off from Russian oil and gas, he said the price of household utilities would skyrocket. 'For us, Hungary comes first!' he said, urging compatriots to fill out the Vote 2025 ballot in the remaining five days left to do so.

Orbán: Opposition has the same masters
In a video posted on Facebook, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said it was all the same whether the opposition was called DK or Tisza Party, 'their masters are the same'. In a video posted by Tamás Menczer, the communications director of the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrats, on Sunday, the prime minister said strong forces had been pitted against each other: 'We Hungarian patriots on one side, and I would not underestimate us, being several million people, and Brussels on the other side. And the Hungarians who support Brussels against their own national government.' 'It does not make a difference what the powers who stand against us are called, whether DK or Tisza, Ferenc Gyurcsány or Péter Magyar, it is all the same, because the powers in the opposition are the same. They can announce a new team, they can change the flag of the team, but the real source of power behind them is the same,' he added. PM Orbán said that, not for the first time, the choice was between a puppet government, subordinate to Brussels and acting on Brussels' command, or a national government. He added that on that choice hinged government measures that Brussels wanted to see rolled back, such as pensioners' annual bonus, the power to tax multinationals and banks, and the regulated utilities price scheme for households.

Menczer: Tisza Party is carrying out orders from Brussels
Hungary's government and ruling parties believe that a question as serious as Ukraine's EU membership should be decided by the Hungarian people. Tamás Menczer, the communications director of ruling Fidesz, said on Monday that the opposition Tisza Party is carrying out orders from Brussels 'to prove that Hungarians support Ukraine's accession to the European Union'. Menczer told a press conference on Monday that a pollster 'linked to Tisza and financed from Brussels' had published a survey showing that Hungarians supported Ukraine's EU accession. He said the party's ongoing signature drive was also about collecting 'enough signatures, if necessary, through forgery' to show that Hungarians were in favour of admitting Ukraine to the bloc. 'This is what [European People's Party leader] Manfred Weber and [European Commission President] Ursula von der Leyen have commanded them to do because they want to admit Ukraine to the European Union basically immediately,' he said. 'The first step would be bringing Ukraine into the bloc, and the second — as Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi, the advisor to Tisza leader Peter Magyar, has said — would be to send Hungarian troops there…' Menczer said, adding that Brussels's offer to Ukraine was 'membership for war'. Hungary's government and ruling parties, on the other hand, believe that a question as serious as Ukraine's EU membership should be decided by the Hungarian people, he said, urging the public to participate in the upcoming referendum on the matter.

Menczer: PM ‘will be attacked' using money from Ukraine
Tamás Menczer said media outlet Direkt36's film attacking PM Orbán was the first stage of Ukraine's "campaign of defamation", and he called on Direkt36 to reveal who gave it money and how much. Fidesz communications chief Tamás Menczer said on social media on Friday that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán 'will be attacked' using money from Ukraine and George Soros, adding that the information came from the Hungarian secret services given at a briefing to parliament's national security committee three days ago. Menczer said media outlet Direkt36's film attacking PM Orbán was the first stage of Ukraine's 'campaign of defamation', and he called on Direkt36 to reveal who gave it money and how much. Menczer referred to 'forces financed from abroad', saying Hungary would 'fight them', and declaring that 'Hungary comes first! Not Brussels, not Ukraine. We know what they're doing!'
