THE Rotary Club of Teluk Intan is collaborating with SK Sultan Abdul Aziz to promote recycling among young children.
Club president Dr Tan Ming Gui said:'Our aim is to get each pupil to collect and recycle 3kg of recyclable materials.
'We want to encourage them to have this habit, empowering them to be future environmental stewards,' he said in a statement.
'Recycling reduces landfill waste, conserves natural resources and minimises the environmental harm caused by excessive consumption and waste.
'We hope to create a culture where the local community will have a sense of shared responsibility towards caring for the environment,' said Tan, adding that the date and venue for the campaign would be announced later.
He said the campaign was part of the club's wider Go Green initiative to promote environmental sustainability, which was started in January 2024.
Tan said the club has also held several other activities this year, which included a tree planting event and preloved clothing recycling programme.
'The tree planting event was jointly organised with Teluk Intan Municipal Council (MPTI) at Taman Sri Intan in Hutan Melintang in June, where we planted about 100 saplings.
'It is our commitment to create a long-term community impact by fostering environmental awareness, reducing waste and inspiring sustainable lifestyle habits.
'We call upon people in Teluk Intan to join us in our recycling efforts for a healthier planet,' added Tan.
