When the girl's father approached Neel's father, Vishnu, he threatened to kill him. Police have apprehended Vishnu, while Neel remains absconding following the crime.
According to the complaint, Vavadiya worked as an assistant at Tana Tuition Classes in Katargam for one year. Neel frequently visited the tuition class to drop off and pick up his niece. He got Vavadiya's phone number for work purposes but began to harass her.
He stalked her, abused her over the phone and made indecent demands. He also demanded Rs 30,000 using abusive language.
One day, the victim's father, Rajni, received a call during which Neel began abusing him, assuming the victim was listening. When Rajni started speaking to Neel, he ended the call. Rajni then got the phone number of Neel's father, Vishnu, and complained. Instead of correcting his son, Vishnu abused Rajni and threatened to kill him.
Vishnu also said that his son would continue to harass Rajni's daughter.
As Neel persisted in his harassment, Vavadiya killed herself at her home on Sunday night by hanging herself with a sari. Singanpor police booked both accused under BNS Sections 108, 308(2), 78(2), 352, 351(3), and 54 for suicide abetment, extortion, criminal intimidation, stalking and other offences. While Vishnu has been apprehended, Neel remains on the run. Local Patidar leaders have demanded strict action in this case.
