Grand celebrations mark International Day of World's Indigenous Peoples at Dhar & Mhow
Mhow/Dhar: A grand celebration was organised to mark the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples at Dhar and Mhow on Saturday.
Dressed up traditionally and holding their bows and arrows, the tribal people in Dhar and Mhow participated in the celebration.

Although functions were held at numerous places in Dhar and Mhow, the main events took place at freedom fighter Tantya Bhil's memorial in Mhow, Mandu, Badnawar, Manawar, Pithampur and Kukshi towns.
In Mhow, five rallies were taken out from Choral, Manpur, Kamadpur, Kodariya, and Pigdambar congregating at Gawli Palasiya, after which they passed through the market area of Mhow. The participants then reached the memorial of Tantya Bhil in Patalpani.
After offering floral tributes to Tantya Bhil, tribal leader Bhim Singh Girwal addressed the gathering, highlighting the life of Tantya Bhil and recalling his contribution to the fight for freedom during British rule.
In the tourist city of Mandu, a large number of tribals gathered at Jhabri crossing and took out a rally from ward No. 15 to ward No. 1. A small public meet was organised on the occasion.
In Badnawar, the main attraction of the tribal rally was presence of 11 DJ vans, which filled the air with tribal songs and music.
A large number of tribal people gathered at Nandram Chopra School, from where they joined a rally that passed through various parts of the town. The rally was welcomed at bus stand, Someshwar square, Durga square, and a few other places.
In Manawar, tribals gathered at Krishi Upaj Mandi and under the leadership of MLA Hiralal Alawa, they took out a grand rally throughout the town. Addressing the gathering, Alawa said, "From Aug 1 to 15, a special campaign is being conducted to motivate tribal people to stay away from alcohol and get educated if they have quit it for any reason." Folk singer Anil Piplaj presented tribal songs at the public rally, while Junior Johny Lever and his team presented their show.
